Netflix Hulk Hogan Movie staring Chris Hemsworth as The Hulkster

We didn't even know there was a Hulk Hogan biopic in the works, but THR has just announced that none other than Chris Hemsworth (Avengers: Endgame, the Thor movies) is going to play the legendary wrestling Superstar.

The Netflix original project will be helmed by Joker director Todd Philips, who will also produce alongside Hemsworth, Michael Sugar, Bradley Cooper, and former WCW promoter Eric Bischoff.

Hogan, real name Terry Gene Bollea, is easily the most recognizable pro-wrestler on the planet, and was the face of WWE (then WWF) for many years. His likeness has appeared on everything from lunch boxes to condoms (yes, really), and he's also featured in movies, animated series and comic books.

Recently, Hogan became the source of a lot of controversy after he appeared on a sex tape with his friend's wife, using the N-word to describe his daughter's boyfriend (again, yes, really). However, this film is not expected to delve into any of that, and will instead be an origin story focusing on Hogan's rise to prominence.

What do you guys think about this casting news? Is a Hulkster biopic something you'd be interested in seeing? Sound off below.

Always and forever. But Thor instead of the obvious choice, 'Roided-Up Martin Mull? I dunno, maaaaaan!

Also, it's ridiculous that an absolute nobody like Paige has a biopic that opens in theaters, while Hulk F*cking Hogan gets a straight-to-Netflix job. I wonder if the post-credits stinger for BOTH FILMS will be a disastrous sex tape? That'd be fantastic.

But yeah, hopefully this will be cool. I generally hate biopics because Real Life is always more interesting, and I hate the mix of candy-coated bullsh*t and flat-out lies that Hollywood crams into stuff like the Queen movie, but it's Hogan so I'm at the very least curious.

PROBABLY can't be any worse than "The Jesse Ventura Story", and it'll probably be better than "Sting: Moment Of Truth". Both of those bars are subterranean.

Steve Borden is an amazing human being and a swell fella. I'm proud to say I've met him.

That's the nicest thing I can say about his biopic.

I said to my buddy, "With the hairline he's got it's SO OBVIOUS that he's the perfect choice."

If Hogan himself has any say, the character in the movie would just never take off the bandanna, even to sleep, and thus nobody would be the wiser.

Is this the Bollea vs Gawker trial dramatization that was announced earlier or is this a biopic of the life of Terry "Hulk Hogan" Bollea?

I'd watch the hell out of any biopic concerning classic WWF characters. I'm such a die hard Hulkamaniac that I accidentally got Machomadness, too.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I was in the middle of completing the Three Demandments. Or four, pending on how you conduct yourself.

It apparently focuses on his early career up through the beginning of "Hulkamania". The Gawker movie is a completely separate project.

Sadly, we won't be getting a Rodman cameo. Maybe in the sequel.

That's awesome.

Much of history has washed away the crucial Fourth Demandment, "Believe In Yourself", which is a shame as its arguably the most important. At some point after 2003, the FIFTH Demandment, "Believe In Hulk Hogan" was also added, but most people not named "Hulk Hogan" don't really count it.

Spoiler:

I always knew of these two. Its good to know its not about the court case that should be swept under the rug.

I wonder if Hemsworth will wear a balding wig.

Also, who is going to play Randy Savage? Oh, yeah!

I don't think they'll get that far. They keep saying it's simply about "The Rise of Hulkamania", which more or less wouldn't go past WrestleMania III, since the Andre match was officially the end of his "rise". And that would be a hell of a show-closer, to have the last big moment be "The Slam Heard 'Round the World". Anything past that would be anticlimactic.

Hogan and Savage didn't buddy up in real life for about a year after that, so frankly I won't be shocked if they don't include Savage at all. And it wouldn't even be a slight; knowing the history as I do, there's already about 8 hours of movie-worthy material just up to 1987. It's probably not going to be super long, but a ton of stuff is definitely going to be omitted for length and "streamlining" purposes. That's just how it works.

Iron Sheik wants to play himself. That would be five stars, easy.
