Sdcc 2024

Anyone have any thought about when they will finally preview their exclusives for this year?

No idea, I just want Playmates to formally reveal their "Origins" line and explain what their plan is with it. Is it just going to be the four turtles, will they explore doing more of the vintage line, is it too late to backtrack on that absolutely horrible texture, etc.

I am not going for the first time since 1998. It will be weird watching from afar, but it is for positive reasons.

Unrelated to Turtles, but I already saw exclusive figures from Jada get previewed (though by Jada themselves). I'm sure it's only a matter of time until we start seeing stuff from Playmates, Mondo, NECA, Super7, etc.

That's a crazy streak!

I went three years in a row (2012-2014) and I think that was enough for me for a lifetime. Definitely a spectacle, definitely exciting seeing so many franchises and products all at once, and of course San Diego is wonderful--but after that year I'd become pretty cynical about it. It's just a 4 day long commercial, and the exhibit hall is just a massive cathedral of consumption.

I also remember being able to freely walk up to and talk to Eastman in 2012 and to some extent in 2013. Got him to sign and draw multiple things for me. But then in 2014 there was such a crush to meet him--we had to wait in line, and when we got to him he just powered through a quick signature and head sketch before a handler urged us to move on and the next person to move up. Can't say I enjoyed or got much from that sort of interaction.

I only go to NYCC for 1 day every year. I used to go multiple days, until I got shingles from the stress lol.

I'm always excited for the new NECA reveals! I really don't know what to expect debut wise, but I hope this year doesn't focus as much on the comic side of things outside of maybe some new Archie figures. Still keeping my figures crossed for an Archie Armaggon.

I'd love for them to debut more movie line stuff and FINALLY give us that Tatsu figure or even more side characters from TMNT III.

Anything Next Mutation wise probably happen again for another three years for the 30th anniversary in 2027.

I respect what FW cartoon did for the turtles franchise but it is the most overrated and hard to watch of the 3 turtles cartoons.

Will these be impossible to get?

And it looks like they’re teasing two new turtles on the box.

Hard to say. The last several years of exclusives (and not just TMNT) have been very easy to get ahold of, but I suppose that could change at any given time.

To the teases... I don't really follow Mirage so as to not get tempted into buying any, but have they released a Triceraton other than Zog? If not, there's a second Triceraton on there, too.

NECA is late to the party on these. I guess for those who don't have the Mondo/Bottleneck versions this could be exciting, but it seems like a reach. A fitting exclusive, though.

It isn't out of the realm of possibility for NECA to reach out to Laird or Eastman and create the last two remaining brothers from The First Turtles (consistent with their original vision). But, then again, they do come with all the weapons, so they are kinda suggesting buying the 2-packs twice.

I can't remember if the NECA Store would ship SDDC exclusives internationally last year. I know they didn't used to, but I feel like that changed. Anyone else recall?

I'd like these, but I'm not going to bend over backwards to get them.

Is one of them the Return to New York Raph... with the hood? Trevor Zammit mentioned in a livestream that he'd be getting an individual release.

Good guess. That must be it. Was sort of hoping it was a hooded version of Donatello from Volume 2 but that’d be odd.

Super cool reveal, but I think I'm even more excited about what they'll have in the display booth this year. Would've totally picked the First Turtles up if I was going in person to get that Kevin signature.

Nice set, I see the limit is 4, so they expect us to put together two quartets of turtles, lol. Just 1 for me!
