For $10 figures, that’s amazing!

Ya I really want these. Like I said never liked the first sketch design but these do not look like that. These are more anthropomorphic. They’re pre-teenage turtles. There’s a cuteness to them.

Don’t have a Target and was waiting for some other stuff to come out but I really like them. Just wish Mikey had a belt instead of the nunchuck holders on his arms.

These look promising to me. I can place them next to my Mirage NECA versions. Totally awesome.

I found Donatello at Target tonight. The tag said $14.99 but it rang up as $10.94 or something like that, not bad! I'm undecided on whether I'll keep it or not but I was with my 2-year-old so I didn't have time to waffle on it, it was buy now, figure it out later.

He looks pretty good in the package, I just can't decide if I really need another set of the four brothers, especially since I know for a fact I'll be grabbing the "Origins" figures whenever those come out, pitted skin be damned.

Found all 4 of these dudes, but I had to pull an expert move to snag them all. Last night found 3 on the peg, all that looked like would fit. Guessed that the 4th (Raph) was probably in back but I didn't have time (or enough faith) to ask anyone to check. So gave them a day to pull from the stockroom and went back tonight, and yep there was Raph.

For some reason there was a 20% off tag on the peg (and other pegs in that aisle) and they rang up 11.99.

How accurate are these? I heard they are from a different sketch than the Bottleneck, Mondo and NECA First Turtles. Can anyone confirm the inspiration or source for the Playmates First Turtles?

They're 100% accurate (although colored and the original sketch was black and white) to the source.

The NECA and other company turtles are the first two sketches they did.

Basically it went like this:

Eastman sketched a ninja turtle.
Laird sketched a ninja turtle.

They worked together to make a sketch of the “teenage mutant ninja turtles” which is what the Playmates versions are.

The Mondo one was Kevin Eastman's sketch. The Bottleneck Galleries one was Peter Laird's response

These Playmates Original Sketch ones were the first drawing after they collaborated

Neca just made their own version of the first 2 drawings for SDCC

Okay, now that all makes sense. I have to pick up the Playmates version knowing that they are mostly legit (aside from the bandana recolor?). I appreciate the chronology.

I totally missed out on the Mondo/Bottleneck versions so I was keen on picking up the SDCC NECA interpretations as soon as they went up. Thanks for clarifying the situation.

I will likely pick up the Playmates versions as NECA is probably (contractually) not allowed to use those interpretatons.

I guess the July restock is real because I finally found these at Target today.

Bah, really? I was at Target yesterday and didn't see anything new. The shelves were looking pretty sparse in general though so if there's a restock planned it definitely hasn't happened yet.

Hmm, photo is a bit blurry but kinda makes it look like maybe the B&W versions do not have textured skin. That would be some news.

Those look pretty good! I'd grab a set if the price and availability weren't an issue (though I'm expecting both to be).

I'm sure it's the same textured body, the photo/render is probably just adjusted to flash out the whites to make them look more like the b/w drawing.

New photos of the SDCC figures. Apparently they're sold individually

I found it impossible to snag the Mutant Mayhem exclusives last year. Since I imagine demand for these to be even higher, not even going to bother thinking about it. Releasing as singles doesn't help!
