Playmates Technodrome Re-Release

They are apparently bringing the Technodrome back. Cool for those who will love it. I can't stand re-issued toys to be honest, but.... whatever.

Depending the cost I think I’d make it a side project to make a Tmnt villain Themed lamp out of it.

I had the Technodrome as a kid (still have it), and it was an awesome playset. I understand how this release appeals to people who wanted it as a kid but never got it.

But the idea that a bunch of 40-50 year olds will be buying makes me laugh.

I hope they don’t cut any corners with this.
I haven’t opened my turtle van to compare to the original.

Pretty excited to see this come back.

It's worth it just for a like-new box alone (hopefully it isn't plastered with 40th Anniversary imagery and sticks to the original look) IMO.

As far as 40-50 year olds buying it being laughable -- I think you may have signed into the wrong forum by mistake. Lol.

That is brilliant, bro. Get it? A lamp? Is... brilliant?

Yeah... I mean... eh. Yeah. I suppose in the defense of a collector, people in that age group could be setting up some pretty cool basement-collection displays to look at.

As opposed to playing with it and making laser sounds with their mouths as they draw an imaginary line from the giant eye to a Turtle standing on the ground.

I would hope that the box wouldn't be a dead ringer for the original..... I don't have a stake in this game - I sold my Technodrome years ago now. But I'm just saying that re-releases should be marked as such.

The box won't be exactly like the original...Nickelodeon logo somewhere, 2024 dates, etc. I just mean close enough that it's as reasonable a facsimile as the other reissue figure cards have been for instance.

I've seen this on the internet. But anytime I go to the Amazon page it says "unavailable". Assuming that it eventually does become available, I wonder how much it'll be going for. If the price isn't too too much, I'll definitely try to get one.

Considering that Hasbro just released a Marvel Legends Hulkbuster figure and are asking 59.99 for it at retail, the 79.99 for a Technodrome playset seems somewhat reasonable.

lol I get it. It's still funny. I mean, the same company is selling people the exact same toys they bought, or wanted to buy, 30+ years later. It kind of defies belief.

I really hope this isn’t like the Turtle blimp re-release.

Because I could totally see Playmates re releasing the movie Technodrome with toy colors.

I never had a Technodrome so I'd like one but its not high on my list.

There's nothing wrong with re-released toys. They're for those who never had them or lost/broke them and of course newer fans that might want them.

Oh that would suck hard. I really hope this is true because even though I have my original, I’d still want this

Ok, so I contacted Playmates earlier to get some more info about this and this is their response

Thanks for contacting Playmates Toys.

We do have it as an idea for some time in 2025 (at the moment), and it will likely be an exclusive to one specific retailer that is not yet determined. Not many decisions have been made on it yet, so I cannot confirm much info right now.

Thanks again for reaching out!

Wow, there certainly is quite a bit of hype around here for this thing. I guess if it's cheap enough and I'm able to find it, I might get it, too, but it doesn't look like it scales with any of the figures (though I guess a Technodrome that did scale would be pretty dang huge). Hmmm... though I do have some very tiny TMNT figurines that it might look nice next to.

How come the dude in that toy article look like a pedo serial killer? LMAO! They should've put someone else on that page instead of that guy. It gives the image of action figure collectors a bad name. I am somewhat hyped for this reissue of the technodrome but that size! Sheesh! I guess it's only going to be in scale with the LEGO TMNT figures.

As someone that never even had the shell of one as a kid, I'd buy one if that rumored price is true. A store recently opened near me that has some vintage TMNT and I was able to grab my first ever Footcruiser as well as a few figures. It's got me jonesing pretty hard for more vintage stuff, but I'll take an affordable re-release.
