If You Could Snap Your Fingers and Eliminate Any Species on Earth, What Would It Be?
If you could snap your fingers (clap your hands, wave a magic wand, what have you) and eliminate anything on earth, what would you pick and why?
I ask because I'm dealing with a flea infestation in my apartment right now thanks to my dog and I'm cursing every single last one of these jumpy motherf#ckers. Cockroaches and mosquitoes would be my next two picks. I'm ready for fall so all the bugs will DIE

None, because I would probably end up f*cking the ecosystem.

I can't stand houseflies. Any flying, buzzing insects, really.

Flies
Rats Roaches Pigeons Wasps ...well this would probably mess the ecosystem a bit, but come on now, most people would get rid of most of these if they had the ability to do so. Don't deny it |

None, I think it would be immoral to do so.

Undeniably, eliminating any entire species in the blink of any eye would have a significant effect on the environment... but f#ck the environment, I'm part of the motherf#cking environment, if the environment can effect ME then I can effect IT!!!
I kid, but seriously, f#ck pestilential bugs, am I right??

Hypothetically?
I could be down for getting rid of mosquitoes. Especially the specific species that harbors the Malaria bug. We've eradicated polio, so...not really seeing this as much different.

Like, shark-sharks?
Real ass sharks? They are probably the singular thing I fear most in this world but I wouldn't want to see them go. They're so perfectly adapted to their environment and they really won't bother you if you understand how they operate and give them space. But like used car dealer-type sharks? Yeah, f#ck 'em.

Ocean Sunfish...they basically do absolutely nothing for anyone or anything. Literally. They're inedible to most predators, they basically do absolutely nothing but float around and lay waaaaaay more eggs than they logically should as Nature's Most Useless Animalâ„¢. They pretty much just fill space.

Since you guys have some of the definite choices covered, I'm gonna go with other, sometimes more sinister culprits (who I'm just going to say count as obscure forms of life in some way)...
Good bye viruses. Bye rhinovirus (I will remember you not fondly via my mini plush Giant Microbes). Bye flu, HIV, and others. While some critters we don't like might still somehow serve a purpose, it's hard to see how viruses serve any that isn't only self serving. (If any can be beneficial in some way, well they can remain cultivated in a lab...) Last edited by IndigoErth; 09-21-2017 at 08:16 PM. |

He needs to get together the guy crying over rainbows. They'd get along great.
Poor sunfish.... At least they don't want to eat or hurt us. |

Baby whales do not deserve to be mistaken for sunfish!
Bravo on the rhinovirus, though...bravo.

I came to this thread expecting someone to answer "humanity".
And I was not disappointed.

Mosquitoes would be hard to overlook... maybe heart worm, flesh eating bacteria, or that fish that swims up your pee-hole.
