Why did they animate Wyrm only for a toy commercial?
Wyrm never appear in the OT but they animated his design for the Playmates toy ad:
Why go through the trouble of creating an animated design for him if he wasn't going to appear? Do you think its possible some episode featuring Wyrm (and possibly Scumbug's first appearance), was in the cards but for some reason got canceled? |

He was probably overlooked unfortunately by the writers/staff. He looks like a good threat for the turtles that would have been a great character for a non-Shredder CBS episode. Those teeth look wretched and vile! I definately would have had him over one of those lame Mad Scientist episodes. That hammer really could have done some major damage to anyone!

I always figured he was in one of those 5 skipped production #s I conspiracy theorized about way back.

I remember that thread gobo mentions. I don't know though his character design in that commercial looks pretty umm cheap for lack of a better word while the others look like on the show so they probably only made him for the commercial to sell toys and playmates paid for it.
Regardless I consider those few seconds of Wyrm to be canon in the OT and the turtles did face him. |

I can't tell if you're being serious or not, but this elicited a chuckle from me.

My personal theory is that it was an episode that was partialy animated but ended up being scrapped.
I believe the same would be true of Scumbug, when he appeared in Night Of Rogues it was like he'd fought the T's before. I bet he was supposed to appear in an ep that was scrapped but David Wise thought it was made. |

Antrax on the other hand was clearly from Dimension X, given he introduced himself in said episode. |

I really wish both Wyrm and Pizzaface got at least one episode in the OT.
I mean it was really random when Mutagen Man and Muckman/Joeeyeball got one-shot episodes, wasn't it? I wish Wyrm and Pizzaface got 1 episode too. Thankfully we were spared from: - Hotspot - Scratch (I only like his character in toy form) - Halfcourt - Sandstorm - Monty Moose - King Lionheart - Doctor El Also, does anyone think Dr. Cobrato from the episode "Snakes Alive" was sort of based on Scale Tail? |

When I was watching that ep for the first time, I specifically remember expecting it to be that snake mutant they had recently made a figure for. When it turned out to be a generic snake-man, I figured it was probably for the best as the ep sucked anyway.

Leonardo conveniently having a crippling fear of snakes that was never apparent in the least before just kinda tainted the whole ep for me. I despise plug & play plots.

I can't recall the turtles ever coming across snakes before said episode. It was fear not brought up.

Doctor El, Scratch and Sandstorm weren't too bad to not deserve an episode, definitely better than random mad scientist of the week or yet another Shredder/Krang recycled plot. And god I am glad Pizzaface didn't make it in an episode, I hated that figure I don't even know why I owned it, what possible story could you come up with that character? The OT equivalent of Garbageman.
