Hah. I just watched the movie for the first time ever a few months ago. While not as terrible as it's made out to be, this sequel thing has no reason to exist.

The film itself is basically Mad Maxx set in a...well...water world. It's a pretty decent movie for a mid-90's action movie.

I think they're make a series because these days global warming is deemed relevant and the rising sea levels make Water World from science fiction to science fact.

I saw Waterworld at the theater when it first came out and I enjoyed it.

That is exactly my suspicion. Rather than do some new Waterworld-like thing that's just very similar.

Wow.

Waterworld revival. If it pops, now the aftermarket even on old Waterworld toys might take off - the older Costner Robinhood stuff has seen movement lately too.

I love older Costner stuff. The Untouchables and his Robinhood are two of my favorite flicks of all-time. Waterworld wasn't as bad as people made it out to be when it was released. It's not good either, but I think '95 had Braveheart and Desperado and Seven and Mortal Kombat, and Casino; and I think people just sort of clustered Waterworld in with Tank Girl and Stallone's Judge Dredd and it went from there.

It's like what's going on with the general population nowadays - the zeitgeist commands thought processes more than individual thought commands the times.

I do have fond memories of going to the theater to see it with a bunch of friends. And Dennis Hopper exploding on the deck of the Exxon Valdez, lol. Never saw Costner in The Postman, though.

Also, I read this article and automatically assumed this meant Costner would be recast (and... wasn't that Paige Turco?) but... maybe not so? It doesn't look like he's above doing TV these days.

I haven't seen the Postman either.

Check out Highwaymen though. Wow, what a great movie. It was so cool seeing Costner back in great form in that kind of a flick too. Seriously, really good flick on Netflix.

Saw that a ways back. Very solid. Also 3 Days to Kill, maybe from 5 years ago. Surprisingly awesome!

It wasn't a bad movie, just kind of...boring.
Which, given the premise was not supposed to happen.

I imagine that when "2 Girls, 1 Cup" was the new hotness, ol' TC gave it a glowing 5-star review.
