Incredible actor, and one of the coolest characters in movie history as Apollo Creed.
Damn, man.

I just saw this breaking news! ?
https://variety.com/2024/film/news/c...rs-1235895634/ No cause of death is known but his family said he died in his sleep. He remained active to the end with his participation in The Manadlorian. I loved his portrayal of Apollo Creed, and foe me when he dies the franchise does with him. I'm a Rocky I-IV fanboy.

Carl Weathers truly was a great legend, love Adam Sandler's tribute to him, am glad I got to see him at the San Francisco Fan Expo last year, he did seem pretty active and doing very well. He could do it all. Here's to Chubbs, Apollo Creed, action Jackson, and the many other identities he's had. Rest well Carl Weathers, enjoy the next life.

The gallows humorist in me is hoping that Dolph Lundgren makes a tribute tweet that says "If he dies, he dies."
I'm sure Carl would get a kick out of that.

Talk about a shocker - Seeing him in the Mandalorian he had such a great presence and nothing about him screamed "impending health issue".
Really awful news. |

That whole "healthy" thing doesn't really matter to me anymore. Hell, Bruce Lee was like the epitome of health, and his brain still swelled up.
I'm sure we'll find out the cause soon, if any or if they'll allow it.

He was just in The Mandalorian wasn't he? Or was that Boba Fett?
I can't believe everyone is dying. Pretty soon there will be nobody left. |

I’m so bummed about this man’s passing! Apollo Creed is absolutely one of my favorite film characters of all time. Hell I even named my cat after him. Carl Weathers was so convincing in his role! Rest easy sir and thanks for the memories!
Also health is a funny thing. Despite how good we take care of ourselves there’s never any guarantees about how long we will live. I exercise every day and eat well, and I never think to myself that it will somehow add years to my life. I prefer to think it can add life to my years! Take care of your bodies everyone because you only get one! |

He was scheduled to be part of the FanDuel “Kick of Destiny” promotion at this year’s Superbowl with Rob Gronkowski: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/oth...th/ar-BB1hGRRc

You're right.... it's a solid point. People die all the time without 'notice' of declining health or whatnot.

A lot of celebs keep health issues private. For example nobody knew Chadwick Boseman had cancer until he died which is why his death shocked people. People were expecting him to play Black Panther (including Marvel themselves) in Black Panther 2 and beyond.

I was surprised to hear this when my brother told me about it today. Gary Graham just recently died too, I watched Robot Jox with my brothers a few days before he passed away. Makes me sort of worry about Arnie, Tom Baker and a couple of other actors.
