Voice Acting Legend Rob Paulsen Talks About Moving Into Directing For 'Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'

http://nickalive.blogspot.co.uk/2017...sen-talks.html

It also says that the new show is starting in September

Apparently they’re happy, so we’re 10 to 12 episodes into the new version that will begin in September of next year, and it’s an absolute blast.

Rob's enthusiasm is really nice, glad he's having fun. But the best part about that article is finding out that Maurice LaMarche voices a villain on the show! I've wanted him to do a part in TMNT for ages. Rob seemed to suggest the two of them are recurring baddies- perhaps Bebop & Rocksteady are getting a Pinky & The Brain treatment?

Huh.

Well, I hope it isn't too similar to Fred Wolf.

I wish Rise were like Teen Titans Go.

I'm just not feeling the whole "magic/fantasy", don't trust them and feel they're going to be overusing it. TMNT is fine with magic/fantasy but only to a certain degree.

Screw that, I support this show going all out FW.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

It won't be anything like any old series, it will be its own thing

Actually, he did two of the Frogs in the 2012 show. I think Attila and Rasputin?

Oh yeah! I totally forgot about that. Well, as you can see, I'm excited for his apparent return.

I imagine a lot of voice actors from the Nick show will do roles in the new one. They're both made by Nick, there's going to be a lot of the same talented voice actors work on the new show in different roles.

We already have that with Tiger Claw's VA now doing Splinter, or Rob Paulsen now being voice director. I fully expect a lot of the other major Nick cast to do different characters in the new show.

I wonder if this one will have a lot of celebrity guest roles like 2012 did.

So, if this new TMNT show fails to catch an audience ... does anyone see Nickelodeon force feeding this to people to try and get it to catch or will they ultimately cut their ties and shelve it?

That may end up doing more harm than good for the IP as a whole ... but time will tell I guess.

Why should it fail?

Not suggesting it should, but the possibility of "if" it fails.

Nickelodeon really seemed keen on trying to reboot and retool another series quickly and my comments were merely a consideration on what the company may do if they put all their eggs in one basket with this new series and they ultimately aren't rewarded for it.

Oh, I'm sure Viacom has more bakets.

I think the reason behind the five-season-series is, that they want to make kid shows. And the kid the got in the first year is in five years "grown up", and they lose them, but can't win new fans because of the backstory.

So in every five years the franchise needs to be rebooted.

So they keep it "fresh" for new beginners.

If it fails, they let it go for 2 or some seasons and then reboot again. And again. And again. And... you get that.

I can see the fresh audience view for this show, though some children pick the shows up as they get a bit older, my child was still a baby when 2012 started but he picked it up over a year and half ago. Those who liked it from the start I suppose could be between 9/10 and 15/16 now depending on when they started watching. (older if they were 12+)

one thing that worries me.

there is no one there with a dedicated PLAN for TMNT. it all feels like throwing darts at a dart board and hoping one idea sticks.

if it does and starts to loose favor, then nick looses interest in it fast. and starts all over again. people will tire of tmnt at that point.

That's what they do with any kids property. There is one new Batman cartoon after another. One new Spiderman cartoon after another.

Why are you guys acting like you have no idea this is the norm for kids superhero cartoons? I guess the only difference is TMNT is known for going gaps between cartoons because it's not as popular, but DC and Marvel put out one new Batman and Spiderman cartoon almost consistently after the previous one ends.

I didn't realize this was rocket science.
