The plot of this movie is probably Batman impregnating Harley and then 9 months later Harley confronting Batman to pay child support.

Oh god, that's going to be the plot, isn't it? Then Joker will find out Harley has "Bat babies" and be enraged and try to kill her and her kids, and Batman will come to the rescue as usual. Truly sounds like bad shipper fanfiction brought to life.

Bruce Timm, what happened to you? What a fall from grace.

Nor do I. It didn't bother me all that much, but I can see why some people are upset. Personally I was just bored waiting for the actual storyline from the comic to show up. 31 mins it took. 31 mins.

#1. It is never stated that Barbara was raped. In most media, the Joker is absolutely asexual with no interest in copulating. The Joker has no interest in Harley Quinn, but is instead disturbingly fixated at Batman. The only instance I know of where this is not true is the Joker graphic novel by Brian Azzarello.

#2. The Joker's goal is to break Jim Gordon's mind, not break Barbara. Given the Joker's widely accepted asexual nature (see #1), many of us (us being Batman fans) have understood that the Joker went no further than stripping her and posing her naked body. Flashing horrible images at Jim with no explanation or cause.

#3. Batman has never engaged in sexual relationships with his family, the only exception being Bruce Timm's Batman TAS series where it is implied that Babs and Bruce had a thing. Any comics that followed up on this (Batman Beyond) were explicitly a continuation of that animated continuity, NOT main DC/Batman continuity. Thus, non-canon.

#4. WERE Batman to engage in a sexual relationship with Barbara, it damages Bruce's character and moral reputation. We frown on teachers having sex with their students because even if the teacher does not initiate and the student is of legal age, the teacher is in a position of authority and is seen as having abused that position of authority. Right or wrong, this IS unarguably the cultural view of such relationships. (And is most often the legal view as well, such as at many colleges, universities, and other educational bodies.)

#5. Yes, Barbara Gordon was already just in this story as a victim. The producers and writers of this adaptation told us up front that they wanted to expand on her role. What they chose did not serve the character well, simply enforcing that Babs is just around for sex or eye candy, to be used or discarded by the men in the story as they see fit.

What they SHOULD have done was make this Barbara's story as well as Batman's. Show Barbara first becoming Batgirl in flashbacks, show snippets of her career leading up to this moment, show her crippled and abused, and then end the story with showing Barbara refusing to give up and be a victim, but to continue her own quest for justice by serving as Oracle. THAT'S how you do justice to Barbara Gordon.

Wow! Timm's definitely channeling B:TAS. I usually stay the hell away from these crappy movies, but the art style here already has me excited.

Edit: For a film music buff like me, this is an exciting thought: if we're to assume this film is in the vein of B:TAS, might we finally get an excellent orchestral score for it, just like the good old days? Shirley Walker's Batman theme returning? What a treat that would be!

I can't believe you guys are eating this up especially after looking at previous comments from when this was first announced. Batman has a freaking Black brick for a hand

I am put off bc it looks like they are also going with the 2nd design for B:TAS

Hopefully the story will be good. A good story can make up for bad animation and vice versa.

More of a fan of the first BTAS designs, the 2nd series was good, but BTAS was great.

Well in BTAS the first series, it was more photorealistic and less shape. Once Batman was cancel and Superman was being made, the photorealistic was gone, and the shape like animation, became what would be Timm's style.

Than the New Batman series came during the run of Superman, and well, they went with the Superman shape look and not the photorealistic of BTAS. Still a great show, both The New Batman series and Superman, and they would use that style all the way though Justice League. But I think I prefer the photorealistic BTAS over what came later.

I know its not suppose to be photorealistic, but at least resemble a hand.

What make it so bad is that there are no highlights around the hand even though its clearly day light.

I don't understand why so many people are complaining, I mean we've wanted a new DCAU film since JLU ended and the internet whined about it for years and now after all hope seemed dead we get this screenshot that is hinting it may be set in the DCAU and people instead of being excited are complaining that it looks bad, which it might but that's how the DCAU looked and we may just get a new Batman DCAU story!

We had a Live action BatGirl film? I know in one film, Animated was called BatWoman and she clearly liked Bruce flirting with him over the phone such.

When did this happen?

Any ways, BatMan X Harley pairing isn't new, in the Batman Animated series they kissed.

Now give me Posion Ivey X BatMan things, I liked that idea.
