As much as I love the Super 7 Ultimates for TMNT, one of my biggest gripes (besides rising prices) is how each wave had less paint applications, so the 4 brothers don't even fully match. I'll defend the sculpts until I'm outta breath, but the paintjobs definitely seem to leave something to be desired.

It's kinda funny, though... Super 7 cheaps out on paint, and NECA uses too much paint (to the point of it flaking off when you move joints). I think the only one that gets it right in this department might be Loyal Subjects. Too bad I don't like their sculpts for the turtles themselves (but I love all the other characters that they've made so far).

Lol. That pic is clearly centered around Playmates product, not S7 product. So that could indicate there are Playmates 2K3 reissues in the pipeline. Otherwise yeah quite a leap to infer anything about S7.

Rat King was supposed to be a part of the Classic Collection reissues, but Playmates pulled it back around the time S7 cancelled theirs.

There’s also the Mega Mutants & various buddy figures, and Pizzaface also got a Nick incarnation.

Anyway, I’m thinking about scoring one of these guys some day.

I called it! The Super Cyborg is faithful to the vintage deluxe Krang! Great, this will work with the Ultimates line.

Definitely cooler than I was expecting but not something I need. I've got the vintage figure and I'd rather save the money to put towards NECA's giant version.

Not an Ultimate, but it scales nicely with Ultimate Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady. This may be the closest thing we get to an Ultimate of the 1994 Krang’s Android Body.

The Krang is cool and I pre ordered, I also think the New Neca Krang will be a good stand in. I however don't understand what's going on with this line of Ultimates. It seems to be pretty straight forward, make Ultimate editions of the vintage figures. What am I missing here? Were

It's not an Ultimate. It's a completely different line (Super Cyborg). It's not meant to scale or fit in with the other Ultimates figures (though aesthetically it's not bad).

As for what IS going on with Ultimates, nobody knows. The next wave will be very telling, we'll get to see if S7 smoothed anything out with Playmates or if they are killing the vintage-looks Ultimates line and being forced to come up with their own designs. My money is on the latter unfortunately.

If anything, I'm actually at least slightly less worried now (but still worried for a multitude of reasons), if only because this Krang's android design is straight-up the vintage Playmates Krang's android. Sure, it's not an Ultimates! figure, but it's still Super 7 using a vintage Playmates design.
