Fans are upset because it's ill timed because of the "times we are in" and because it's about a "white fascist" :

Because most people I know who read the books are young, progressive women.
Not exactly the best move on Collins part if she wants to move paper. Why wouldn't she play to her base? Also, this reeks of manufactured outrage. Are you a fan, Andrew? I never read the books. I caught the general premise and noped out pretty hard. It seemed like every other one of those "dystopian teen sci fi" stories that were kind of cashing in on the current trends.

I should give the first book a try, but like you, I noped pretty hard. The only one I actually did read was Maze Runner, which was... not terrible, until it tried to set up a sequel. Wow, that was bad.

The movies were pretty OK. The third one wasn't the triumphant thing it should have been, though... just meh.

I know the word, which describes such mindset. It starts on "T" or "A" and in some cases on "C" and "F". And people who think like this are never on the "right side history". |

Man, you are REALLY reaching for this one. I said nothing of the sort. I was questioning whether or not Collins made a good move businesswise. It'd be like if I held an all veal barbecue for PETA. Probably wouldn't sell a lot of tickets.
Someone has Voltron Derangement Syndrome. Get a hobby or something.

I am not baiting - it is a serious question: if some people think that certain themes are too dangerous or offensive, should artists be prohibited from exploring those themes in their works?
Because, in my opinion, answering "yes" for this question is a one way ticket to the totalitarian regime and very real fascism, not the one existing in the heads of "liberals" triggered by another Trump tweet. And I know what I am talking about, since, unlike Voltron, I live in the country where certain themes were and still are basically taboo and everyone who try to explore them are viciously attacked and silenced by state and its cronies. |

Which means you viciously attack and try to silence me? Sounds like the apple didn't fall far from the tree, Summy. Maybe you should read what I write and not listen to the voices in your head?
I'm tired of cleaning up your messes. You attack everyone. You never post anything remotely constructive. Are you here for any reason other to be a troll? From here on out, I'm banning you from this thread.

Eh, I don't get him trying to "silence" you from any of that, you're imagining that. "Call out"? Sure.

Hey, if he wants to play stupid then anything is fair game.
Call out? Care to explain that one? What did I say that suggested censorship was even on the table? Point to it. Especially since everyone here thinks I'm some hard left lunatic, wouldn't it make more sense for me to clamor and cheer for this? Look, if you guys want this to be antagonistic, go for it. I made a comment about the wisdom of it. Everyone else is out to misconstrue my words. If you guys want to make this a fight, that's your business. Not mine.

Eh. We can proceed over the noise.
I was having fun before the nonsense. I apologize for the lack of decorum. It's been a hard few months and having a personal fan club is difficult to manage sometimes. Anyway, I felt even worse about Maze Runner because it seemed to be piggy backing off a piggy backing book. I guess? I'm not totally familiar with the order in which these books were published, or when they became popular. They seem like a copy of Ender's Game or The Giver, but a bit more heavy handed with the symbolism.

If you want a well-written "YA" novel, try Six of Crows. Damn good book.

Let's try to stay on topic this time. Francis Lawrence, who directed films 2-4, has now signed on to be the director of the film adaptation for this book.

The audiobook will be narrated by Santino Fontana, the voice of Hans, from Frozen.
