Looks like a statue, not a figure. Cool style but I've never understood the appeal of statues.

That's great to see. Bring on the IDW merch.
Same appeal as a figure, but with better sculpting, since there is no need for "playability". I used to feel the same as you, but now prefer statues, as long as they are made with good material. |

See I'd say there's none of the appeal of a figure since you can't do anything with it other than... set it down and look at it.

For my personal taste, I like a statue that comes with a few accessories, so you can still sort of play with it. |

I don't usually go for statues, so I wouldn't be in the market for this anyway, but I do like to admire them from afar lol... That said, this one... I just don't know. Santolouco is one of my top 5 favorite IDW TMNT artists (probably top 3, even) and while that sculpt looks like his Raph, that paint job leaves a lot to be desired compared to Rhonda Pattison's amazing color work on Santolouco's amazing art. Even Santolouco's own black/white/gray/red coloring he does on a lot of his sketches far outdoes this flat paint job.
Sidebar: Tbh, Pattison is, in my opinion, one of IDW TMNT's greatest unsung heroes... She completely changes her coloring style to fit the artist, and is absolutely killer with every piece. It is pretty cool when statues have like swappable heads/arms and accessories... Still not my cup o'tea but I can see the appeal of that type of statue, for sure. |

I'm a big statue guy. They just seem more 'grown-up' to me personally

Honestly, there is no difference to me between figures and statues. I prefer statues but if a figure is cool enough, I'll get em too. But c'mon, I don't play with them or bash them up against each other yelling out 'Take that Skeletor!!!' or whatever. I also either leave em in the box or pose them and put them on display, which is pretty much making them a statue anyway.

Santolouco talks about this statue :
They're gonna produce the 4 Turtles and Splinter to get a big diorama. But unfortunately we can't see the other statues whereas PCS shows at least their full project on paper. |

Wow, those look great! By the time they wrap it up it will be a pretty neat matching set for anyone with deep enough pockets to go in on each one.
Still, I miss the days of Bowen Designs back when we thought a $34.99 mini-bust and 74.99 full-size polystone statues were expensive. |
