TMNT Vol 4, Free PDF Issues?
I really loved the TMNT Vol 4, but was thrown for a loop when they stopped releasing pyhsical issues in stores (only by mail), but offered free PDF files of the issues.
At the time, reading PDF files wasn't exactly an easy thing - but now that I have the ipad, I wish I had those issues. But whereever they where once offered is long gone, or not offering them anymore. Are they available anywhere online? Is it legal to get them online anymore? Sorta surprised web searches don't turn up anything, either. ----------------------- http://supersentaiimages.blogspot.com/ Super Sentai (Japanese Power Rangers) http://kandouerik.blogspot.com/ Comics, Japanese Stuff, and More |

They (Mirage) do after all still sell Vol. 4 comics on their website, so obviously they still value their work... & besides, they may have given some free stuff out in the past but those books now belong to viacom, so yeah, it's illegal. It's pirating.

Is it? I'm not trying to start any arguments here, I'm genuinely curious how the piracy/copyright issue would work here.
Obviously the early issues of Vol. 4 yeah, no doubts there. But the last 2-3 issues where Peter Laird chose to release the issue as a FOC pdf with a limited print run just for those who wanted physical copies, I'd have honestly thought there's no problem with sharing those. Did the last issue even have a print run? If I remember right the pages were just posted on his blog. I know Viacom owns TMNT now, but Peter Laird still retains the right to publish Mirage TMNT comics. If he did another issue it becomes property of Viacom, I get that, but he can still choose how to distribute that issue and could release it, as before, as an FOC pdf or on his blog. Is there something in the legal stuff that means even though it was released FOC originally that can no longer be shared/distributed amongst fans because of the sale to Viacom? Like I said, not looking for any arguments, just trying to clear up my own understanding of the situation. Thanks! |

Erik is thinking of the Wowio editions of Volume 4, which for a while were indeed offered for free (there was an ad or two in the e-comic to offset it). After a while, though, Wowio switched up their business model and went to a subscription service, IIRC.

Peter Laird has #31 and #32 on his blog (http://peterlairdstmntblog.blogspot.com/) as individual images. I don't know about any others though. I know this thread is old, but #32 just came out recently, so there ya go.

OP hasn't been here in almost 2 years, no use bumping this thread.
