Source: NFL rule to give hoodies cold shoulder

Quote:
NFL players no longer can wear exposed "hoodies" over their shoulder pads, and assistant coaches are now expressly prohibited from entering the field of play, following a series of adjustments that will appear in the 2016 edition of the NFL rulebook. Both were in response to specific issues that arose during the 2015 season.

The final version of the book has not been published, but a league source confirmed the changes to ESPN's Ed Werder. Former NFL vice president of officiating Mike Pereira, now a Fox Sports analyst, first revealed the changes on Twitter.

The "hoodie" rule was deemed necessary after receiver James Jones debuted the style last season while playing for the Green Bay Packers. The hood at times blocked Jones' nameplate on his back. Because it is a uniform policy adjustment, it did not require a vote of owners.

Meanwhile, the NFL moved to codify what had been an implied rule for some time. Head coaches are the only coaches allowed on the field during games, and it is permissible for no reason other than to check on injured players. This adjustment was aimed at Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebackers coach Joey Porter, who wandered onto the field during a wild-card playoff game in January against the Cincinnati Bengals.

As medical officials checked on the condition of Steelers receiver Antonio Brown, who would be diagnosed with a concussion, Porter got into a shouting match with multiple Bengals players. Ultimately, cornerback Adam Jones was penalized for his role in the exchange, putting the Steelers in position for a game-winning field goal.

Finally, the NFL addressed another incident from last season for which the rulebook offered no direct guidance. If a coin does not flip during the pregame (or pre-overtime) toss, the referee is now directed to retoss with the captain's original call still applying.

Referee Clete Blakeman followed that procedure during a divisional playoff game between the Packers and Arizona Cardinals prior to overtime, but at the time the NFL said he used his own judgment and confirmed it had no rule to use for such situations.

Looks like LeBron is one loss away from being 2-5 in the NBA Finals.

wow

Bellators last 2 cards did not deliver but last nights knocked it out of the park! Not often do you see 2 KOTY canidates in the same card same.night.

Hisaki Kato who had previously knocked out Joe Schilling in MMA for KOTY comes over to make his DEBUT in kickboxing against Joe who is top 5 ranked in the world and DOES IT AGAIN! Spinning backfist at the end of the second round absolutely starched him.

And Mike Chandler with the perfectly timed right hand to stiffen Patricky pitbull for the Bellator lightweight world title.

Cool cbs

Great fight Thurman vs Porter. I had it clearly for Porter but when that happens it usually goes the other. All action all the time. But it was always Porter pushing the action. Throwing and landing more punches while Thurman landed a few here and there. Like that round Porter hurt him with body punches then Thurman landed like 3 punches and they gave thurman the round. idk man. great fight though.

That was a hell of a fight. I had it 7 rounds to 5 for Thurman. Thurman was landing some bombs that would have put a lesser man down. And although Porter was pressing the action he wasn't landing as cleanly as Thurman was IMO. Either way great fight, great contrast of styles. I look forward to see what these guys do next.

Gonna be an interesting NBA season, lots of moves here there and everywhere.
Bulls Are a completely different team now. And Cavs and Warriors are ridiculous super-teams that make Miami Heat circa 2011-2014 blush.

MMA-Boxing double header

Spike has a combat sports double header coming to the Honda Center.

Bellator 160 Pitbull vs Henderson
Patrico Pitbull had a long reign as Bellators FW world champion
Benson henderson had a long reign as the WEC and UFC Lightweight champion.
Patrico pitbull will move up to the 155lb division to take on Bendo and hopefully get a crack at Current LW Champion Michael Chandler who just violently knocked out his brother last event.

there will be a huge size difference in this fight but Patricio has crazy knockout power and is very skilled. Really no idea what to expect here

followed by PBC on SPike-Robert Guerrero (33-4-1) and David Peralta (25-2-1), the following day, same arena.

Also Programming note Bellator 158 London : Daley vs Lima is on tonight. Check your local listings. 1 hour tape delay in the UK, and 9/8c in the US

US
I like Guerrero but he doesn't have it anymore to be a top tier fighter, getting beaten by a taxi driver no one has heard of.
this year has been pretty good boxing wise. Excited for Ward vs Kovalev

The U.S. just won the Ryder Cup in golf! Was a really good day too with a lot of good match ups.
