So there are two different Mirage Neca turtles?
But the old ones are only available in bootleg? Those were Neca figures at some point right? Thanks for any info |

The bootlegs are of the 2008 Laird turtles. The knockoffs today have colored bandanas. |

2008 were definitely original Eastman AND Laird Turtles. 2024 Turtles I'd say are Lawson penciled with Eastman inks.

Thanks for saying this. I kinda wish people would stop calling these "The Lawson Turtles", because they don't really feel like Lawson's art to me (or at least not PURELY Lawson, anyway).

The more I look at them the more they look exactly like the TMNT Vol. 1, #21 Turtles. Which was Lawson on pencils and Eastman on inks. Which was right about the same time they were doing other Return to New York stuff like the Shredder Clones, so that's probably what they were looking at. And bravo, I consider #21 to be the best looking issue of TMNT ever.

The bodies look like Lawson’s style but the heads look identical to Eastman’s art style.

Easiest to just refer to them as the “Return to New York Turtles”, even though that story itself doesn’t have consistent designs, with the artists playing musical chairs every issue. It’s clearly a melting pot of that group and inspired by that story though, as even evidenced by the box art.
I hope this doesn’t put City at War turtles out of the question seeing as that means even more into Lawson’s style. |

I wouldn't call it musical chairs. Lawson pencilled all 3 issues of Return to New York, it was just a different inker on each one (Talbot => Laird => Eastman).

No because the layouts changed too. That’s why the first part kicks so much ass - classic Eastman layouts.

Sort of. #19 had Eastman layouts, #20 had Laird layouts, and #21 had Eastman AND Laird layouts (but I think it was 90% Eastman).

Not the central artist, no, but I didn't realize about the layouts. I figured Eastman did that solo all 3 issues. I never even realized Laird on layouts was ever a thing.

My argument would be that layouts have a notable effect on the final art, even down to the pencil lines. I can’t say those three issues look alike at the end of the day and have to credit some of that to their shifting roles. I guess that’s one of the unique aspects of Mirage TMNT is that we can argue about exactly who did what.

Interesting that they were all pretty easy to get for internationals.
I was up when the site "went live", but nothing would load so I went to sleep. I woke up in the morning and the Enforcer, Elite and soldiers were all still available. Checked out with what I wanted, no problem. I'm sure they'll all be available at local retailers later, so will get more Foot soldiers then. |

Gotta give NECA credit where credit is due. Haulathon international shipping rates have been terrible in previous years, this year they are using a lower flat rate like the NECA Store so I actually used the Haulathon site for the first time rather than waiting for the wide release later in the year.

I definitely will get one of these new properly colored Foot "Enforcers." My only complaint would be they seem overly buff. They only appear in #21 and they seemed much leaner there, but that's OK.

That's NECA re-use since the Enforcer shares a bunch of parts with Shiva Shredder clone.

Got the Foot "Enforcer" in the mail. Very nice looking figure. And it stands nice and solid, maybe better than most of the other figures.
