has shredder ever killed anyone?

has shredder ever actually took someone's life? does he even have it in him to do so? seems like every time he captured the turtles, him and krang just stall things and eventually the turtles break free. i mean what is their real intention, do they just want to un-mutate the tmnt like they tried to in the season 1 finale, or do they want to actually kill the turtles? and why has shredder never actually use his shredder blades against the turtles, like to stab them or slit their throats?

If it didn't happen on camera nor was it mentioned then it's because it never happened.

I haven't researched it, but...

Hey, long-time lurker, first time poster.
I can say that from the very first comic / origin story, it describes Oroku Saki killing both Hamato Yoshi and his love, Tang Shen, in their apartment. And, more recently, in the Nick cartoon...

***Spoilers***

at the end of the last season, Shredder stabbed Splinter right through the chest, killing him. But now the turtles are traveling through time, so I can only assume it will all work out in the end. Hope that helps

Are we just talking the 80's toon here? Because AFAIK, that is the only version where he didn't officially kill anyone, though it's implied a few times that he has.

Are you seriously asking this question?

It's a friggin' kids show.

The only version of The Shredder to not have killed that we know of is the 1987 cartoon version. Mirage, 2003's Chre'll, 2012's, and first film series have killed especially when Hamato Yoshi is Splinter's master oppose to Splinter himself as Yoshi is the victim. Next Mutation did not last long enough nor did Shredder's reign within the show. If you want to tie it to the movies then yes, but if not the answer is no. The Shredder in the 1987 cartoon has attempted murder on multiple occasions, but failed to do so. If the cartoon aired later I am sure it would have insinuated that he had in the past especially during his bold move in 'Get Shredder!'. Alas the 1987 Shredder has not killed despite his attempts.

Yeah, the 80's version never killed anyone, but he wasn't any less bloodthirsty. There are a lot of times things would have ended up being bloody and gross if the Turtles didn't escape in the last possible second.

A few examples I could think of are when he had Mikey strapped to that flushomatic which would have spilled acid all over him, with Shredder laughing nonchalantly about the whole thing. Or the time Shreeka threw April off a building, Shredder caught her only to take the ring for herself, and then toss her away, not giving a damn that she's going to become roadkill. It's a kid's show, sure, but there are a lot of time where things would have ended up messy if the turtles didn't jump out of the way of gunfire, explosions or the few times that Shredder actually did swing his blades towards them.

yes i was referring specifically to the ot shredder 1987

and yeah thats true there has been some close calls, such as the season 2 premier, when shredder tried to kill splinter with the battering ram, if the tmnt hadnt rescued splinter right that second, he would be dead

Interesting question!

Here is how I see it, based on all different Shredders;

1987 Shred - never killed

Next Mutation Shredder - Never killed during the show, though depending on his origin (which I don't think was ever clarified) he may have killed Yoshi, if Next Mutation is a continuation of the films.

2k3 Shred - killed entire planets.

Nick Shred - Killed Tang Shen by burning down the house.

Original Movie Shred - killed Hamato Yoshi.

Platinum Dunes Shred - I don't think he kills anyone, can't remember if he kills that Foot Soldier he fought with his hands tied at the start? Does he kill him or just beat him in battle? This is due to Shredder And Eric Sachs being split into two characters... Shredder would have killed April's father if they'd gone with the original idea

Mirage Shredder - kills Yoshi.

IDW Shred - kills the human incarnations of Splinter and the Turtles.

Archie Shredder - don't think he ever kills anyone?

So, the only Shredders that haven't killed are 87, Archie, and 2014, unless anyone wants to correct me?

It's more so implied that he's killed in the OT.

Can you recall any time it was implied he had killed anyone? Really curious about this!

I was thinking Shredder killed the Purple Dragons lead thug in the early episodes of the 4Kids series. Or maybe I'm getting the episode mixed up with the Dreamwave comic adaptation.

No, you're right. He does kill the blue-haired leader of the purple dragons at the end of the first episode. They also never re-use that guys design in any of the later episodes, not even as a background character, so they made it pretty clear he died.

Well, I recall an ep where they were driving a tank or something in traffic or there was a traffic jam and he drove over and flattened the cars.

The OT Shredder's blades are mostly just along for the ride. I mean, look at Powder's sig block. If we were taking things seriously, that would really hurt.

Big Zip Attack

He may have done it off-screen in the "Big Zip Attack" episode of the 1987 cartoon when his tank ran over cars in traffic. We saw people leaving their cars, but I doubt everyone made it int time.

Yes, he did kill the Purple Dragon Leader that Dragonface took over for in the final moment of the first episode "Thanks Change".

I am curious, in the 1987 cartoon while Shredder had several attempted murders and never succeeded, what times was it implied he had indeed killed?
