Here's a little piece from a project I've been working on:

Also, check out my wacky non-TMNT related history-of-video-games fan comic:

I really appreciated the artistic work Turtles Forever did in bringing the Old Toon characters back to life. One of my favorite scenes has become the attack of the mutant bananas and pizzas. Sure, it was a parody of the classic series' "Mutant of the Week" stereotype, but I have to admit that mutant pizzas would have been a great one-shot villain in the show:

"But First We Have to Save April!"

Hopefully, I get the inspiration to do some more Turtles Forever inspired sketches. Unfortunately, my style is pretty geared to the classic toon rather than the 4Kids turtles. The Mirage style might be a fun take though...

Did they actually have turtle pasta? That is so cool. Your drawings are adorable. What do you use for coloring?

The background cut outs are creative. Keep it up!

Thanks, Drawsher, coming from a real talent like yourself, I consider that high praise.

Yes, indeed! They had regular and meatball pasta varieties. Late in the food's run, they changed the name to TMNT Vs. The Shredder Pasta and included a Shredder shape.
See here!

As for the coloring, I am digitally impaired (as in, NO CLUE) so I used Crayola colored pencils (50 pack). Unfortunately, running these drawings through the scanner just doesn't capture the vividness of their actual appearance.

I started work on this particular drawing as part of Canadian Turtle's TurtleDoc DVD cover contest, trying to integrate the totality of my TMNT nostalgia into a single piece. Here's what I've got so far:

You have a pretty good eye for perspective, pretty good scaling. I am pretty digitally impaired as well, the pencils and oils are the only things I will touch. May I suggest a color pencil brand? I have heard premium prismacolor is good. Color pencils is a great media, it has some of the most creative blending techniques; like your blending on that pizza, I love the blending of the cheese.

That is a neato site. That jello looks... entertaining.

That scaling/perspective of yours is going to come in super handy the more you get into art. How long have you been drawing for btw?

Thanks for the tip, I may have to look into some professional brand color pencils one day.

It's hard to say how long I've been drawing. I was always better than average at drawing cartoon characters as a kid, but I didn't really start trying to seriously draw the TMNT characters again until around college. I'm 26 now, so I just doodle every now and then. Usually in order to make it good, I have to have a visual reference and break out the ol' ruler for lines and perspective accuracy.

BTW, any idea what I could shove into that top left corner? That blank space is killing me!

If it is a still life picture you could draw what was actually there, or use darker shades in that area and fill it out, I would use two dark colors and crosshatch the area darkly to make it appear less blank.

Great work man. They're still supposedly doing that cover contest? Direct me! Haha I'd love to try sketching up something for that.

I don't think the deadline for submission ever closed, and since the status of the project is in limbo, I'm assuming there is no immediate rush. Here's the link off the TurtleDoc site:

This scene borrows heavily from the classic scene where April gets zapped by Shredder's matter transporter. In my version, the evil Rex clones created by Shredder ambush Rex and April in the transporter room, resulting in a ricochet blast hitting the control panel and kicking off a chain reaction which results in April getting harmed by a serious explosion. Fortunately, Rex-1 defeats the clones and carries her to safety... at least until the effects of the matter transporter kick in later on.

dude. Finish this story. I want to see more. These drawings are so awsome.

Reporter and the Robot (cont.)

Well, you all inspired me to draw a new page:

It really has been a while since I touched this project. I'm kinda making up the story as I go along. It was really just an excuse to draw scenes from the TV series and try to mesh them together into a semi-original ongoing story, so we'll see what happens. Encouragement does help motive me to keep at this.
