TMNT Box

Looks like the turtles are getting into the sub blind box craze. They're selling three versions, one for the classic turtles (80's), the modern tmnt (Nick) and the C-C-C-Combo box that mixes both 80s and nick ones. I probably won't get it cause it didn't really impress me and I already own some of the figures, caps and shirts anyways.

I can't help but notice that they left out the 2k3.

I will probably end up doing this at least once to test wether I think it's worth it or not and given how much i have after bills, etc each month. But I seriously want that Bebop N Rocksteady shirt in the picture of the retro box!

Which brings me to my opinion on this whole thing: Great idea, not so great execution. This is stuff you can get anywhere, as far as I can tell.

If he ain't got the visor he ain't Bebop. I know he's drawn like that because of copyright/licensing issues, but I just ain't feelin' it.

soo

Anyone have further clarification on the big difference between the ages/sizes of these things. It goes from Youth to "Adult XXXL" .. WTF? lol they're all the same price too.

Also if you're wondering you save $48 buying the whole year instead of monthly installments.

and if you did 4 3 months it'd come out to $215.40

2 6 months $203.40

Every month = $239.40

There was some discussion here a while back on another thread about why the designs were different. I can't remember the specifics of it, but it boiled down to copyright issues.

I feel like I'm repeating myself over and over on this board... this isn't how copyright works!

Also those are the same glasses on this official control art semi-based on Mutatin' Bebop.

I don't really care what you "feel like", I'm only relaying what was said before and like I said I don't remember the specifics of it. It very well may not have been "copyright" issues, it may have been likeness rights or something similar. Regardless, there IS a specific reason they've been drawn differently on everything that's been released recently.

They have the Fred Wolf likeness as collector's figures, in the IDW comics, film sequel, etc. So I don't see why that would be the case. Personally, I think they (Viacom) inherited some old obscure style guides & didn't bother to have anyone make more accurate versions of the characters. I don't believe it's an issue with FW, & this seems to be backed by the fact there are t-shirts featuring other characters with their Fred Wolf designs, such as Wingnut & Screwloose, Casey Jones, Metalhead, & others.

Yeah I think they got permission for this shirt. This appears to be a legit shirt that is sold in bulk. Now if you bought this shirt from a t-shirt making store in the mall... then they are doing it illegally lol

Actually one if the draws of these sub blind boxes is that it costs cheaper getting then in the boxes than if you had bought them seperately. Most of the time just a shirt or figure included would have cost almost half the price of the whole box if you bought it elsewhere. You DO get some exclusives but most if the time it is a collection of stuff could find elsewhere.

As for me, I'm iffy on it. I really don't care for the bootleg-drawn retro stuff that's been coming out lately. I know it's all official stuff but that's just NOT how they look like on the old show. Not just the weird outfits, the overall drawing style. Compare that to how the nick stuff ripped the art style right out if the show. Just gimme something that looks official.

Other than that I own most of the figures I care to own and on that front if probably get a repeat or one I didn't care to own. I don't know. It's a good idea but other than a NECA shredder, an April pop vinyl fig and a shirt with that Shredder OBJECTION!! Editted pic I've seen as a sig here and there, there's really nothing I'd want that I don't already have.

You're 100 percent correct. I remember that seeing that version of Bebop on this:

Can't post the image but pretty cool looking, in terms of value definitely worth $20 but if thats the first box i'll pass and hope for a better next one.
