TMNT IDW Collections

So this is interesting; the paperback editions of the IDW collection are starting to release more frequently and Vol.5 is slated for this November, three months after Vol.4:

With the series going to be relaunching, it makes sense to get out the softcovers quicker to coincide with the hype. Hopefully the last remaining hardcovers go back to releasing 6 months apart to wrap up this run.

I'd say that there's a strong possibility of this, particularly as we're already sort of getting two volumes this year if you include the Sourcebook HC.

So for the main IDW collections, I'm conflicted between getting the hardcovers or the new paperbacks. I know the paperbacks are way behind as they only recently started them, but I'm curious about the "weight." Since the hardcovers are heavy, does it get tiring holding them in your hands while reading especially due to the number of pages? Also it seems like the paperbacks are much cheaper despite having the same amount of content.

The paperbacks are somewhat smaller and lighter but this does mean that the pictures are also smaller. Best bet would be to compare them in person at a bookstore that carries them.

I prefer paperbacks in general but the IDW HCs aren't super-thick like an Omnibus so they aren't too bad to hold for long. If I were starting now though I'd probably go paperback.

If I could suggest post #207. I go over the weight, as well as the way page turning works differently between them.

Not in the volumes collecting Sophie's run. If they continue the Alpha issue would be in the first volume afterwards with Untold Destiny, FCBD24 and first few issues of Volume 2 and maybe some of Nightwatcher (which starts in August).

Do we have any indication the IDW Collections won't continue in some form? Even if they start the numbering over, they are such huge sellers I bet similar hardcovers will still come out.

They'll be in a tpb collecting the 4 issue mini-series releasing on November 12th.

They will probably get the “phase 2” treatment like Transformers

Probably still a little too early. I haven't seen anything yet and Sophie normally posts a wip version of the cover art on her Patreon ahead of anything popping up on the PRH site.

Volume 17's up on Amazon. It releases April 1st, features Rat King on the cover as expected, and collects TMNT #133-137, Armageddon Game The Alliance #1-5, and The Armageddon Game #1-6.

Shouldn't the FCBD 2022 issue also be included?

FCBD 2022 is in Volume 16, nice find though.
