Since the trailer will debut tonight during Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards, I thought I make an official thread for reactions, and discussions regarding the new TMNT animated movie.

The trailer will be posted as soon as its online.

Barely a teaser tonight. Looked Spider-Verse-ish though.

Waited through it all for just that at...literally the last 5 min I guessed correctly in the other thread.

blurry offscreen upload but it already looks really good visually. They definitely are leaning into a cg/sketchbook hybrid but it works in this small glimpse. Not a bad first impression.

Out of all the Cast I have to say. Jackie Chan as Splinter is perfect

Yeah, I actually don’t mind the animation style. Interested to see how it turns out in a full trailer though.

Alright, three things:

1. I'm guessing the two different actors confirm that Superfly is not the same character as Baxter Stockman.
2. I'm surprised we're getting an Utrom character who is not Krang and that Krang just doesn't seem to be a character at all.
3. I'm surprised Hollywood still wants to associate with Jackie Chan after... Well, after he said some things that I would make him hated in his home town...

Another thing to note, Is Leatherhead in this version of TMNT will be female.

The cast looks ok but the only ones I recognise are John Cena, Seth Rogen, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, Giancarlo Esposito, Rose Byrne and Nicolas Cantu.

So no Shredder and Rat King, so who's the main villain for the movie, unless they are in it and kept secret for now.

Jackie Chan voicing Splinter, wow that took me by surprise.
John Cena went from voicing Draxum in Rise to voicing Rocksteady in Mutant Mayhem.
Not surprised Seth Rogen is going to voice a character.
I know who Nicolas Cantu is, because he voiced B.O.Y.D in Ducktales. Funny enough Giancarlo Esposito was also in Ducktales he voiced Phantom Blot.
Paul Rudd playing Mondo is cool.

I don't have issue with some element of the Turtles longing to be accepted and be able to know what a normal life is like (as fellow humanoid beings), though I'd rather it focus on finding and accepting their own little niche in the world rather than expecting millions of humans around them to just up and accept them no problem.

And if they eventually earn local acceptance and can live publicly, that needs to be toward the end of a LONG line of movies...if a series of films ever actually got there, not immediately. Out of the Shadows was partly about wanting to be like everyone else, but it was simply a set up for them to actually accept themselves as they are. (Though the concept didn't hold much weight and Leo was the only one on the right page with that the whole time.)

I really prefer that the Turtles just slowly gain more and more friends who have accidentally come to know them, to the point they eventually just have a small community who are cool with them. But that should take a long time to get there.

Yeah, guessing you're probably right. I see no "big bad" on that list and they already kept the cast such a big secret until now, may as well continue to hid the big one. (Though it's lost on me the point of hiding it in the first place like we were supposed to be totally blown away by it or something.)

Unless the top villain is supposed to be the Utrom, but... an Utrom going by the name Cynthia gives me zero bad guy vibes. Cynthia the Utrom, no other known Utroms listed, and isn't Krang... unless they're going for irony using the least villainous name they could think of, I'm guessing Cynthia helps fix someone else's mess. That or she's a klutz or naive and accidentally caused/enabled it.

edit: Maybe it's just me and maybe it'll end tomorrow, but them keeping the cast list a big secret then revealing it all last night while not actually releasing the trailer, making that and the characters we have been waiting to see wait until Monday, is bugging me the way it bugged me when the first PD film went and shoved Knoxville in there just to get a big name added. I could not care less about who they cast as long as their voices and performance is a good fit...but they look to be treating this the same way PD did, getting as many names in that they think are supposed to be impressive instead of first and foremost focusing on the characters (and seeing the treatment of them) that we showed up for.

Just how much of the budget went into paying these big names vs the artists in the animation studio.

They actually hired teen actors to voice the TMNT. It looks alright. I am optimistic about the new film now.

I sincerely hope these kids are better actors as VAs than the majority of what Nickelodeon tends to hire for their live action shows these days. They seem to hire kids whose acting couldn't seem authentic if their lives depended on it, and then we're told and now confirmed that they hired a bunch of teens... for the love of whatever, just please have talent. Actual talent, not superficial, surface level Nick show lack of talent where obnoxiousness is used to try to make up for it.

The designs are so awful, it's also going to clearly be a kiddie movie, and the school aspect is awful. And April is a fat black woman now.
