I'm confident someone could've posted this as a leak and it's just as believable because, well, it's playmates.

$50 dollar market is so over-saturated already.
Don't Playmates have the sub $20 market?,
which forced Neca to sell double packs at $50
but now they think it's a good idea to go after
the $50 dollar market to compete with Neca and S7.

So stupid.

Offering a $50 2 pack based on the original cartoon when Neca is already doing that is a dick move. It's also pretty much a guarantee the playmates stuff won't be nearly as good as the Neca stuff.

It's what they do. With TMNT & Godzilla alike, they've spent the last decade trying to f*ck NECA over for perceived slights. How dare another company have the audacity to make a good product.

I still figure it is a bunch of repaint with MAYBE a new figure... but even that is too much benefit I am giving them.

How low playmates has sunk.

The problem is it doesn't HAVE to be good. Playmates just has to show a 'good faith effort' to release toys in a certain scale, price point, category to shut out competitors at retail.

It is exactly what they did to neca when they did the mirage turtles.

Neca was set to release the mirage turtles retail wide at place like toys r us and playmates swoops in with their 'mirage' line that has shredder, the foot etc but then went nowhere. That was all done to stop neca from selling in places like ToysRus and it worked.

The 50 price point falls right in line with repaints of the articulated, 6" line.
Four Turtles, Bebop, Rocksteady, maybe the surprise release of that line's Shredder and a Foot soldier or something.

I thought it was a rip off at $25 a piece for those ugly ELITE repaints.
How much were they in 2013? Like $12? $13?

Not to mention with the upcoming Loyal Subjects' offering at $15,
Playmates is screwed before they even start.

There are a few iterations that nobody is doing (IDW, 2003, etc). Why Playmates don't do them?

The market for 87 cartoon-based figures seems pretty busy right now...

The prices are Canadian which is why they are so high so keep that in mind.

I'm willing to support IF THEY GIVE US SOMETHING GOOD AND NEW, but I don't have a lot of faith in them at this point.

After-tax prices from the inventory records that I keep going back.... an embarrassingly long period of time....

It's a habit that has come in handy on many occasions and turned into a record-keeping life saver once I established Wave 1 Collectibles as an LLC.

But for every day collecting it also gives you a lot of perspective regarding what you are spending your money on. Give it a shot, even if only as a function of wealth management.

For $42.03 usd, Playmates is really going to have to up the ante with these figures.
