Oh yeah, my older brother drew a map of the first Zelda game himself when he was a kid to keep track of where he went and did not so far. He hasn't done that for any other game since then, I think.
Never played Ghostbusters and it doesn't seem appealing either. It's unanimously considered a bad game, even for its time. It also looks so dull. |

Ah, that's another thing. RPGs with game maps. All of the original Dragon Warriors and Final Fantasties included fold-up game maps in the box. Ultima over on PC, every game included an elaborate CLOTH map.

Nintendo Power is an American magazine. We didn't have it over here.

Just googled it. Zelda came with a map but it wasn’t complete. Never had it as a kid. Like I said I played it on the mini.
I agree it’s way too cryptic. Don’t get me wrong I like discovering things on my own but there’s a lot of intentional dead ends or stuff you’d never figure out. That’s not a challenge it’s trolling. I get a big elaborate world is supposed to have dead ends and secrets because it would in real life but you should not get stuck for no good reason. Especially if it means getting kicked back and redoing things. Imo you should always have some indication of what to do in games. I don’t mean “hand holding”. Just an actual flow with the ability to work it out. Only thing we wrote/drew was the N card matches for Super Mario Bros. 3.

Bomberman Second Attack and Southpark 64 both kicked my butt recently. I regretfully spent a lot of money on Bomberman, but the game was just way too frustrating for me to beat all the way through. I almost never give up on games but those two games were too brutal for me.

Rygar was quite a challenge. I think I got close but never finished it completely.

I could never get past the 5th level of Rocket Knight Adventures.
The Mech-Pig boxing match. FFS. And there are another 2 levels after that. I need to dig my Megadrive out of storage and give it another go.
