I showed the designs and toys to my two kids (8 soon to be 9 and 5 soon to be 6...how time flies) my oldest looked at them and seemed uninterested entirely and that goes for the show and toys. My youngest looked at them and said “let’s get them” so he still seems on board. When he saw the secondary characters like April and Splinter he said “WHAT!?” Which was great to see such a genuine child reaction of disbelief to the radical changes. We also had a fun albeit very long laugh about what a silly name Meat Sweats is. He is still trying to wrap his head around Raph being the leader too.
Seeing as he is getting too old for the now dead Half Shell Heroes line this may be his new TMNT of his childhood while his older brother may shy away from TMNT entirely. While I am not fans of the new art style I can see how young kids would like it. Most of the cartoons he watches look like the animator had a stroke while drawing it or at least used their opposite less skilled hand that had been crushed in a car door. Being able to draw well is no longer a requirement to a successful animated kids show and Nickelodeon is embracing that realization with the new series. |

I just don't get how that is even a thing now. It's like most of a new generation of fresh art school graduates just absolutely suck, giving companies slim pickings to choose from, and together made laziness into an art style. |

I had not seen these new designs until very recently. I don't think I'll be buying these, don't really care for the designs. Although it's interesting that some of their weapons have changed, like how Raph has tonfas. I still prefer him with the sai, though

No. The companies deliberately pick the styles that would be the most cost effective. There's plenty of talent out there still, it just goes into different fields.

While I wasn't exactly serious, technically... a friend of mine who is a teacher has noticed a decrease in actual talent and, maybe more-so, effort among students. Though to be fair that's one school and his one subject (3D Animation).

Yeah. That's pretty weird ...
Either they didn't really have enough material, or they didn't get the Turtles' concept artwork that shows their backs. I don't know ... |

Hmm, those shells do seem to ride up on the Turtles. Looks uncomfortable.

Rise of the TMNT Sweepstakes
Here is a video from the official TMNT Instagram page showing off the figures and their articulation. After seeing these, I don't think I will be getting any of them. They look a bit too cartoony for my tastes. There is a chance to win one in a TMNT box being given away. Volume warning: loud music.

All Pixel Dan's video did for me was reinforce my decision that I only care about the new April, and any new vehicles.

Raph is alright, still not a good capture of the art style when it comes to the headsculpt, too buttery. I wonder if we're going to have another instance where the Battle Shell figures are more screen accurate compared to Wave 1 figures
