here's yet another retailer that refers to IDW TMNT as "Volume 5"

Doesn't make it less absurd. If Peter made a new volume of TMNT tomorrow (he probably won't, but if he did), he certainly wouldn't be calling it Vol. 6.

i didn't say it wasn't. i'm just relaying what it's being referred to by some retailers.
more than likely for inventory's sake, so that the underpaid teens that they hire don't get confused.

IF Peter ever did start up a new TMNT comic series, i'd love it if he called it something like TMNT: Reborn.

It's weird to think this is all actually happening in 2 months or so. This was announced so long ago.

I’ll snatch a hardcover omnibus in two seconds If they announce it.

i really doubt the sale numbers of the single issues will warrant such treatment.

issue 20 sold 4,822 copies. issue 21 sold 4,738 copies.

at this rate we're lucky the singles are still in print, let alone even getting TPBs.

Wow. I probably shouldn't be surprised at the numbers, yet I am.
Hell, I'm still bemused they never included the extra page that was created when Image produced the [only] tpb back in the day

i've been buying the single issues, but just not sure if i want to double dip for the TPB.

I doubt very many people had the extra money (or inclination) to buy 23 issues all over again, just in color, and wait 2 years to get to the NEW material.

Or maybe it's just me.

I don't know if "bemused" is the right word. It should have made it into that new TPB, at least.

I'd never knock it, but it did seem a strange choice from a business standpoint. I think if I was IDW, I'd have released #24, #25, and #26 first, and all in black and white for the collectors. Then put out the two colorized TPBs almost simultaneously, the second one including the new #24, #25, #26 (now in color).

Maybe the initial hope on some level was that if sales remained through leading up to the final issues, maybe they could potentially keep going. Into #27, #28, etc..

i would've loved to have seen that happen.
that would have captured the interest while the iron was still hot.
not these fizzled sad numbers that we are looking at now.

hopefully there will be a spike in the sales numbers once #24, #25 & #26 release.

i doubt they will, but i'm really hoping they'll do a limited B&W release of 24, 25 & 26.

Yeah, sort of a tricky book to sell.

I bought a few issues to support the book, but had no real interest in owning these floppies so I stopped early on.

Still hoping for a hardcover. There are a lot of variables related to the way IDW does business, but they may hope to wring more money from the series. And I'll buy the three new issues for sure.

The single issue color classics of Mirage sold poorly too, they were never intended to sell much. They put them out first to make whatever money they can on the single issues and then again on the collections.

The sales numbers of single issue re-colors are a non-issue, that was likely done to buy them some time to come up with the script planning for the 3 new issues instead of rushing them out.

Yeah, you're right - they should have included that extra page in the TPB. I even thought they might and flicked through it when it came out to find ... nothing.

Ah well ...

I found several issues of this series at my comic store in the mall. Mind you, I wasn't able to pick up all that's been put out so far. I'm enjoying what I'm reading. There are a few things I'm kinda mixed on like some dialogue choices but it's a pretty refreshing read so far.

To be fair some kind of accomplished continuity is needed. A needs to lead to B to C etc. It should as a whole make cohesive sense even if retroactively you're filling in gaps. That's why Doctor Who fans are currently (quite rightly) mad as hell over recent Doctor Who episodes.

Does anybody know why it was left out?
