Haha yea.

I wonder what us Turtles fans did that could be accounted for a sin. Eating a lot of pizza qualifies as gluttony? Or maybe we were all terrible people in a previous incarnation?

Don't see a problem with Bebop. It's strange that people will complain that characters don't look like their original counterparts and when they do make them look like the original, people complain.

There's no pleasing people sometimes.

Then in that case, maybe it's a temporal paradox? Our current sins are why we're being given a bad movie? Maybe Michael Bay's explosions are a fixed point in time?

Time travel makes my head hurt.

It's not about being accurate compared to FW, or IDW or Nick for that matter. Nor is it about making something new.

If the execution looks terrible, which it does, it doesn't matter what intentions there where.

Live-Action Bebop's Mohawk doesn't even look properly attached to the actor's scalp.

^ THIS

The problem with Bebop is that he looks ridiculous, and not in the good way. If this were a movie from the 80s/90s, I'd be more forgiving of how he looks. But this is a movie being made in the 21st Century, and he looks cheesy as heck. Especially with that ridiculous Mohawk.

Some things just don't translate well into a live action setting.

Bebop needs the purple mohawk. Human Bebop has 3 defining characteristics:

1. He's black (the most important thing)

2. He has a purple mohawk

3. He wears shades of some kind

If he doesn't have those 3 things he is not Bebop to me. There is a reason IDW and Nick kept these elements with their Bebop designs and this movie one has them too.

The mohawk still translates just fine if done properly. (for Exhibit A, please see IDW TMNT comics)

Bebop's and Rocksteady's punk design works just fine, it's the actual execution of (primarily) Bebop's costume pieces that's wrong.

Given this creative teams track record, they'll probably be Kaiju.

Maybe (if they are going to be in a parade or near one) the clothes they wear might be something cheap and cheesy they bought from a costume store to 'look' 80's for the parade. It would explain Bebop's fake looking mohawk, he slapped the cheap looking thing on his bald head because it 'completes' the look.

Otherwise, do you really think they'd not try to make his mohawk look 'real' with millions of dollars, CGI equipment and professional make-up artists? If they were crappy at their job they'd have never hired them.

The crappy look is intentional, trust me.

Surely you're right about it being intentional, else that production team chooses the stupidest corners to cut. I will laugh (in a lightly pained way) when the Warthog-him has a mohawk because of a fake one he wore.

Damn that newfangled human-mutating mutagen that causes synthetic objects to merge with it's victim and become real.
(That could be rather problematic actually... lol)

'Course, knowing the unpredictable changes some parties like to incorporate, I wouldn't put it past them to decide to axe the mohawk all together post mutation. To the unschooled film maker it may look like a minor, opitonal detail. But I hope that isn't the case.

I don't think that'll be the case though it's a relatively sound theory, but then what would be the deal with his post-mutation mohawk? The fake one fused with his head?

The day someone like Ehren Krueger writes something as smart as this is the day I will quit life.

Also, I wouldn't have Bebop's mutated form have a purple mohawk. Maybe some purple on the top of his head, but not a big, obvious mohawk.

Personally, I don't get why you guys are complaining about realism. They haven't made an ounce of effort to make this movie realistic or dark(or good, for that matter). Seriously, this is an accurate portrayal of the character's appearance, so I'm not going to complain about that. Plus, Bebop and Rocksteady are going to have a total of about 10 minutes of screentime in this thing, so, yeah. You'll only have to deal with the mohawk for that long.
