I dunno why, but I just love the call of the Mourning Dove. It’s so soothing and makes me feel good.

Aw. They're not much brighter than a box of rocks, but they're cute puffed up like that.

When I was a little kid I thought their call was owls... I mean they DO go "hooo hooo hooo" and I hadn't heard any real owls. lol (Of course, now I know that some real owls turn around and sound like cats. lol)

I know. They’re so cute.

That sound is our childhood.

Yesterday I ran a half-marathon for the first time in 10 years and was totally happy with my time (about 1h 43). Best thing about it though was the 73 year old guy (I looked him up in the result list) who overtook me late in the race and arrived a good minute before me.

That was a totally inspiring experience. To make it even better, the guy looked just liked Stan Lee.

When the weather is perfect it always lifts my spirits. Today it's low humidity, 70, and sunny with a nice breeze.

The kinda weather you want to get in the car and drive around with the windows down and the music up. Forgetting any of the negative going on in the moment and just enjoy life.

My once much loved Nissin beef taryaki Chow Mein...

I loved it back when they had the dehydrated topping stuff in its own packet. I abhor chives, so that killed it when they took away the packet and just added it all directly to the same box instead.

Finally today I discovered that they must have cut costs again, this time removing the damn chives. Woo! Barely any carrot in there now, but I'll take it.

Not being sick and whatever I had Friday and Saturday only being those two brief days. I never get sick this time of year so I was especially annoyed to feel something coming on Friday. lol

Had to be a cold virus, but I've never heard or experienced one that only lasted two days, and far as I know it's only the stomach bugs that are that short, but whether there is really a very short-lived virus going around OR my immune system simply kicked its ass that fast... I had really expected to be sick this week, and dreaded trying to work or calling out, and grateful that I'm NOT.

I wish every cold virus was that mild and brief.

I've been an autumn gal since I moved north years ago. The weather has been feeling fall-ish and I'm loving it.

Today, I got about an hour or so of down time. Sitting on the couch next to my favorite person with coffee on hand. Sunshine and a nice cool breeze coming through the window. No one yelling "mommie" 1k per minute. Peaceful.
