So the war is still going, what's it even like living over there? Do regular Russians fear of being drafted into the military? Or that some Russian cities could be the target of Ukraine attacks as "revenge" or something.

I mean I just can't imagine living in either country right now.

Zelensky has vowed to raise an army of one million to take back everything the Russians have captured.

Oleksii Reznikov has also appealed for more Western weapons, saying that around 100 Ukranian soldiers are being lost everyday.

I found this, in case it's hard to follow how much territory Russia has captured, the answer seems to be because they barely have, the war has been crawling very slowly since April. Basically nothing has been accomplished, which in turn seems to be because the Russian military is cartoonishly incompetent. There are various factors as to why that is but the main ones seem to be corruption on all levels and a dependence on poorly trained conscripts.

The sad thing is that seems to contribute less to making the war end soon and more to making it seems like a giant waste. When it ends, Russia will maybe have annexed the Donbas but very little else and maybe even less than than the full Donbas, if any of it. It makes me really sad to think that all this seems to accomplish is destroyed Ukrainian settlements and Russians living under an even worse regime than they did last year.

They basically lost thousands of lives on both sides for no reason at all. Not to mention people in Ukraine who had to flee the country or were misplaced.

The whole thing is a colossal waste of time. This isn't 1945 anymore where you can just wage war on the country next to you...we're in 2022 for goodness sakes.
