Babs and Bruce's romance is pretty much commonly accepted as the single worst thing to come out of the DCAU.

By whom exactly?

Even as a kid, I don't remember being bothered by it. It was the first time I became aware of DCAU Bruce's fatal character flaw--his avoidance of others. It made them both seem more human.

Barbara had moved on, advanced into a great police career, and was happily married by her 60s, while Bruce stayed trapped in his angst and mistrust of others (at least until he met Terry).

People are bothered by it because Batman has an affair with his adopted sons (Dick's) girlfriend. It's just odd.

I liked it because you got the feeling that Batman was developing as a character. He's not this static, emotionless robot; he actually wanted to dare to make relationships with people again. And he was reminded of why he couldn't do that when Tim got ****ed up.

Once I learned Bruce Timm's intentions behind it I could never support it. It's not that "Barbara gets a crush on Bruce and they fall in love after working together."

It's Bruce Timm's devious sexual intentions toward young girls half his age. He self-inserts himself into Batman and everyone knows this.

IMHO, one of the things that makes the DCAU all ages friendly and yet very adult is how good they are at implying the relationships...like how Hades might be Diana's father, or the developments betwen John Stewart and Hawkgirl, or the problematic aspects of the Joker/Harley pairing. Batman and Superman have great respect for each other, despite their personal differences. Lex Luthor has a strange affection for Mercy Graves and Tala that humanizes him but still shows what a narcissistic jerk he is.

It's a pleasant contrast to the forced grimdark qualities of some of the more recent live action and animated DC films.

Bruce Timm is a 56 year old man according to wikipedia, there's no reason an almost 60 year old middle age man should be fantasizing about boning College girls. They're half his age.

Oh shut up already. This shtick you do of posting the same thing over and over again is so annoying. Leave it in the Killing Joke thread.

And Bruce Timm is still a lot more respectable than you'll ever be.

At least they're legal. I bet Timm never jacked off to a 10 year old girl.

Agreed. A big problem with YJ is how clunky and forced the romance aspects are. I get that Timm had the advantage of having like 5 series to slowly build up the relationships of the characters, but ultimately the subtle approach of the DCAU is far more satisfying. Combine the focused story-arc approach of a show like YJ and the worldbuilding aspects that the DCAU mastered and you've got a winner (best example I can think of is Spectacular Spider-Man).

Harley Quinn will be voiced not by Arlene Sorkin or Tara Strong but by

Melissa Rauch from big ban theory

http://www.empireonline.com/movies/n...?sf67664214=1/

Batman will be voiced by Conroy and Nightwing is voiced by Loren Lester who voiced him in BTAS

I don't get it, why not let Harley have her iconic voice actress if they're bringing back Conroy and the original Robin.

Arleen Sorkin is largely retired today.

I still think they should have gone with Tara Strong for Harley instead of this random person. I mean you have the original Batman and Nightwing but not harley.

I'm surprised they didn't have the actress who played her in Suicide Squad voice her here if they weren't going to go with her other cartoon voices.
