It's been hinted at that Michelangelo will appear on the cover of Volume 7, where Mikey is on his own in the aftermath of the Hamato/Oroku gauntlet battle ("Vengeance").
Similarly, it's been said that Shredder is on the next upcoming volume (#6), covering "Vengeance". And it has been hinted that Krang is being saved for whenever the upcoming storyline "The Trial of Krang" is reached in the hardbacks.

I've just got caught up on purchasing all 4 volumes of these and I have been loving them. 5 is on preorder as well. I really hope that shredder makes the cover for Vol 6. Hands down my second favorite character and I need him in this form of cover.

These IDW hardbacks are, without doubt, my favorite TMNT books ever. Chronological order, gorgeous cover art and spines, durable...

Awesome.
While I get the floppies for myself, I get these hard covers as gifts for friends. I've gotten a few people hooked on the series; everyone says they absolutely love it. (Admittedly, I'm kinda jealous. A part of me wants to keep the hard covers for my shelf instead of giving them away.) |

I'm in the same boat collecting both! Put those 5-year-old IDW issues in some nice bags'n'boards and take em out if you want to peruse the letter columns... but otherwise crack open one of these deliciously chronological hardcovers and get lost in the seamless narrative!

Man, I still have the softcover 4-issue trades that IDW has put out till now. I'm really considering selling them on ebay and then buying these hardcovers.

Now that we are aware of next arcs in both ongoing (from November solicits) I want to try to map upcoming volumes (which is rather interesting task, at least for me).
Warning! Is't gonna be long and mostly boring reading, so take it at your own risk I'll do it based on story page count. This metrics is better than issue count, cause issues sometimes vary in size. Here is how previous volumes fair in this regard: • Vol. 1 - 381 pages • Vol. 2 - 374 pages • Vol. 3 - 346 pages • Vol. 4 - 312 pages • Vol. 5 - 329 pages • Vol. 6 - 346 pages So they all are in range of 300 to 400 pages, which will be rule #1 for my mapping. Here are all currently uncollected story arcs in chronological order (in brackets expected page count by the end of the arc): 01. Order from Chaos (#51-55) - 110 02. Deviations (one-shot) - 24 (I know, that IDW hasn't collected previous cross-titles initiatives, but this one is fully focused on TMNT mythology and can potentially be an exception) 03. Leatherhead / Fox Hunt (#56-60) - 100 04. Chasing Phantoms (#61-64) - 80 05. Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything! (mini-series) - 100 06. The War to Come (Un #1-4) - 80 07. Inside Out (back-up) - 20 08. Christmas Special (#65) - 20 09. Urban Legends (Un #5) - 20 10. The Rot in the Shell (Un #6) - 22 11. Alopex in Alaska (#66) - 20 12. Teenage Mutant Ninja Pepperoni (back-up) - 4 13. What is Ninja? (back-up) - 16 14. Metalhead 2.0 (Un #7-8 ) - 40 15. Desperate Measures (#67-70) - 80 16. Toad Baron’s Ball (Un #9-10) - 40 17. Pantheon Family Reunion (#71-72) - 40 18. The Jersey Devil (Un #11) - 24 19. Namazu or the Big Fish Story (Usagi) - 40 20. Karai’s Path (Un #12-15) - 40 (80) 21. Prey (back-up) - 8 (16) 22. Prelude to Dimension X (FCBD) - 20 23. Dimension X (mini-series) - 100 24. Trial of Krang (#73-75) - 20 (80) And upcoming ones: Ghostbusters 2 (mini-series) - (100) Invasion of the Triceratons (#76-80) - (100) Freedom (Un #16-17) - (40 + 8, back-ups) Universe #18 (20 + 4, according to Bobby, it most likely will be Triceraton Invasion tie-in as well, which is important) And now here are two variant of how they can be collected. Variant 1: (most probable) • Vol. 07 - 280 (TMNT #51-64) or 304 (with Deviations) • Vol. 08 - 342 (B&RDE, Universe #1-8, TMNT #65-66 + 3 back-ups) • Vol. 09 - 320 (TMNT #67-72, Universe #9-15, Usagi + Prey back-up) • Vol. 10 - 372 (FCBD, Dimension X, TMNT #73-80, Universe #16-18 with back-ups) * Ghostbusters 2 will go in the next volume. Pros: - It's natural to chronology and doesn't require major shifts. Cons: - Vol. 7 can fit in the needed range only with Deviations one-shot. - Bishop 2-parter (War to Come and Desperate Measures) is divided. Variant 2: (most preferable) • Vol. 07 - 390 (TMNT #51-64, B&RDE) • Vol. 08 - 322 (Universe #1-8, TMNT #65-70 + 3 back-ups) • Vol. 09 - 340 (TMNT #71-72, Universe #9-15, Usagi, Prey back-up + Ghostbusters 2) • Vol. 10 - 372 (FCBD, Dimension X, TMNT #73-80, Universe #16-18 with back-ups) Pros: - All volumes are thematically unified, see for yourself: Vol. 7 is all about Turtles in the Foot Clan (except for B&RDE, which is random in absolutely every volume). Vol. 8 is perfectly framed by 2 Bishop arcs, which gives this volume some kind of completeness. Vol. 9 fully consists of mystical stuff (except for Universe #11), even Ghostbusters 2 with main villains as demons fit in this theme. Vol. 10 collects all space stuff (to be fair, it shouldn't be otherwise, that's why this volume content is identical in both variants). Cons: - Ghostbusters 2 should be chronologically put before Dimension X / Trial of Krang. And that's all. What do you think, which variant do you like more? Maybe you have other (and better) solution? Last edited by Shargor; 09-05-2017 at 02:08 AM. |

as much as i'd like to see Deviations make the collection, i don't think it will.
it's a "what-if" story, and just doesn't fit into the chronology.

I wouldn't expect to see the Usagi crossover in these hardbacks, Shargor... so far only crossovers that impact the main storylines have been collected (e.g. Ghostbusters). No Infestation, no X-Files, no Batman...
Which, for my money, is as it should be. But I wouldn't mind seeing the Usagi story prove the exception to this rule!

Usagi should be collected as it's part of the main canon. Only reason it might not be is if there's some contract rule with Dark Horse that another company can't collect an Usagi comic, but who knows.
