I used to smoke, long, long ago. Thankfully I quit.

Among my family and friends, you'd only smoke menthol when you were sick, because the prevailing thought was it either helped or was easier when your lungs were dealing with the problems associated with cold/flu. No idea if there is even a shred of truth to that, but the point is, you only had menthols in situations like that. You weren't walking around smoking menthols regularly every day. That was considered weird.

I've since learned that in some communities, like in some black communities for example, methols are popular as a default. Had no idea.

Anyway, if that is indeed the case, I can see a lot of pushback against this for unfairly target some groups that prefer Menthol over non-methol... such as as the black community. So if this gets struck down, it would probably be for some reason like that.

All that is an aside though. The real thing I'd like to say is... don't smoke. Not worth the money you lose, and not worth the side-effects. Also rather you realize it or not, you are turning a lot of people in your life off who don't want to be around smoke or smokers, putting yourself at a social disadvantage as well.

Not sure how I feel about that and guess just don't really care. Being addictive doesn't make something some kind of sacred right.

Things I've liked have disappeared over the years, too, but no one ever had a fit over them.

The Turtle pies weren't exactly good for us either, so if anyone throws a fit over this then they need to throw a fit over that too. Surely we have just as much of a right to Turtle pies.

But... like smokers that can still 'enjoy' the non-menthol and all the vaping stuff, I can still enjoy other similar styled pies... just not those exact ones.

I actually caught a video about that very topic this morning. It's fairly new.

I'm kind of surprised nobody pressured me into smoking cigarettes, although some guys have tried to get me to smoke weed. They also smoked cigarettes, yet told me not to.

Liberals will ban menthol cigarettes but make pot legal.

I mean, pot has health benefits and all cigarettes do is kill you. So, there's that.

You know who's always going to be against smoking? Non-smokers.

Let's not demonize people for having common sense.

Maybe black families should make a better job at educating their kids to not smoke, as opposed to banning cigs for everyone?

Oh wait, they won't until white people literally ban cigs. So much for being "responsible" and "oppressed" community.

The "addictive" part of the equation isn't what makes it a right. Or anything, really.

Seems like a terrible mentality, and a blatant slippery slope. And comparing cigarettes to pies is like comparing hard liquor to Snapple... it's just silly.

One year: "You guys still have your regular cigarettes and menthol cigarettes and vaping! We're just taking away flavored vaping, no big deal."

Next year: "You guys still have your regular cigarettes and vaping! Sheesh, relax! We're just taking away menthol cigarettes, that's all. No biggie! Pipe down, you know?"

Then the next year: "We're taking away vaping" and then regular cigarettes after that.

I know this is what happens because this is always what happens with smoking (remember how at first it was just no smoking in restaurants and bars?). People need to take a stand. Not a compromise. Just a hard NO and F*** OFF about stuff like this. This is being pushed by smiling liars who pretend to have a deep compassion for people who smoke, a deep concern for their health but in reality they just don't like smoking. And why would they? They're non-smokers. They think it's gross, they don't want to smell it (or even have the CHANCE to smell it, anywhere) or see it anywhere and want to do everything in their power to remove it from being allowed as a result and it's as simple as that. I don't like menthol cigarettes and I think they're nasty but I would never think to infringe on people's ability to smoke them.

It's why simple "majority rules" kind of think is always concerning. It'd be like if you live on a city block where most of everyone lives in a bunch of apartment buildings, but there's two nice houses on it with 2 car garages in each one, but the population of the city block decides to vote on "Banning 2 Car Garages." The 2 car garages are just going to get banned, because it's being voted on by people without 2 car garages who most likely don't even know what owning one is like.

The "silly" point was why should it matter any more than any other product sold in a store and might one day be discontinued.
