Plot hole in Cinderella

After the clock hits midnight as we know the Fairy Godmother's power wears off, and all the changes she made to Cinderella turn back to normal. Her dress turns bag to rags, the wagon turns back to a giant pumpkin, and the animals turn back to normal small animals.

However the glass slippers were created by the Fairy Godmother as well, and as we know she loses one behind as she's running away that the prince picks up, and later in the movie uses it to find her again when the glass slipper fits perfectly on her feet. But shouldn't her glass slippers also have turned back to normal worn-out shoes like everything else when the clock struck midnight? So why does the glass slippers stay when all the other magic wore off?

It's a huge plot hole and given it's the crux of the climax of the film, it's a glaring plot error.

This has been mentioned before I think. I've heard it asked before that is...and I wonder if it's that everything else was shifted from something else; the coach, the horses, the footman, her dress are all made by turning things into them...until 12. But we're the shoes?

That is a good point, actually.

Perhaps - and I'm reaching here - but perhaps the fact that the two slippers were separated from each other interfered with the spell, or something.

I'unno. That's a huge reach and doesn't make much sense but that's all I got at the moment.

Disney wiki says:
Quote:
For some reason, the slippers do not revert when the magic wears off, like the ball gown does when the clock strikes midnight, which suggests that they were actual glass ones. Cinderella thanks her Fairy Godmother for letting her keep them.

In the live-action film, it's heavily implied that the reason the glass slippers didn't disappear was because they were pure magic and did not derive from an already existing object. Instead of transforming Ella's current shoes, her Fairy Godmother asked her to remove them and she conjured up the glass slippers onto her feet.

I mean, sure? Why not? Once you get into "It's Magic" you kinda don't need to apply any logic to things anymore, anyway. I guess that's as good an explanation as any other.

At least glass and not squirrel fur, would have been interesting in a DIsney film

The Fairy God mother is also widely considered to be one of the first popular deus ex machina in fiction. Cinderella has all these problems and would never be able to go to the ball, but the Fairy Godmother appears out of nowhere and gives her a dress, carriage, glass slippers, turns her animal friends into horses, and let's her go there to meet the prince

The entire story of Cinderella is based on deus ex.

That's why Cinderella III a twist in time retcons so the original movie never happened.

Cinderella III is also supposed to be "better than the original" and not from Disney's PR but actual reviewers and animation fans. II on the contrary is supposed to be horrible and also retcons a bunch of stuff from the original.

With Cancel Culture going on, I figured Disney de-cannonized Cinderella anyway.
