Funko Pop In Trouble

Apparently the Funko Pop company has so many unsold pops that they have to destroy tens of millions of dollars worth of toys as well as slash their staff by 10%.

If this goes on, the company could go bankrupt and we may never get TMNT Movie 3 Samurai Turtles.

It's past time. I have to admit I feel a bit guilty for hating something so seemingly innocent that brings others joy, but I just can't stand this line of collectibles.

Why should I care what other people value? I don't know. I just know I criiiiinge every time I see a Youtuber's background littered with these things or buying into the pseudo-collectible nature of them.

I am admittedly impressed by their business model, however. I'm curious to know more about their licensing deals, because they really got their hands in everything.

I wonder if it's just certain pops that sucked. There's already preorder pops for the upcoming D&D movie and I honestly don't see Hot Topic taking down their Pops any time soon.

Guessing they probably just really overdid it. I mean just how many, and how many variants of a single character, do people even want or need?

Never really found them appealing. I mean, some of the TMNT ones were cute I guess, but they never appealed to me enough to be something I needed on my shelf. I did just buy my first (and likely only) one this week (because it's an exclusive Earth Day Care Bear and that's also my b-day), but it took this long to ever see one I actually wanted.
