Yeah, the Turtle actors were never one of that movie's (many many many many) problems. The issue is that they were barely characters at all, and the one-note versions we got were all saddled with bad decisions and/or laziness on the part of the writers.

Noel Fisher was probably my favourite performance, but that version of Mikey was such an obnoxious creeper that it was very hard to like him. Alan Ritchson's Raphael was pretty blandly gruff, which was... mostly boring. and Jeremy Howard's Donatello was a super lazy, eye-rollingly outdated nerd stereotype overall. There were lots of issues with the writing for them, but I have to wonder how they would have done with a decent script and competent direction to follow. Probably a lot better. Hard to blame them for that.

But as far as live-action Turtle performances go, I've still gotta give my votes to Brian Tochi, Josh Pais, Robbie Rist and Adam Carl, voice-wise.

You all give those "actors" too much credit. They're terrible.

Hey, I'm just trying to find some redeeming quality here. (Or "redeeming quality" relative to the pure garbage surrounding it, which isn't saying much.)

That's the thing with this damn movie. You even try to look away from the wall-to-wall awfulness and find something, anything worthwhile, and it goes... well, like this:

Hey, I made it just for you.

Well... mostly I just really wanted to use it and you gave me an excuse to almost sort of justify it. So we both win!

I wouldn't go quite that far, but I wasn't impressed either. I just never said anything because it felt like piling on. There's nothing I like about the last movie.

Oh, come on, there are a few things that are great about the first movie.
Like when it was over.

Oh man. That was the best. When it was finally, FINALLY over?

Perfect.

Any actor that's willingly involved in a movie like this automatically loses all my respect.

Like you wouldn't sell your left nut to play one of the four Turtles in a mainstream TMNT movie.

A dick is nothing without its nuts. So I'll pass, thanks.
Seriously though, I really wouldn't. I don't understand why these movies are such a big deal. As you long as you have a decent cartoon representing the franchise it's fine by me.

Yeah, you really would. You think Alan, Pete, Noel, and Jeremy don't know their movie was a steaming heap of sewage? But y'know what? They're getting to be Raph, Leo, Mikey, and Don.

If any of us were given the chance, we'd take it, too. They're the only parts of the movie that I don't despise. Rather I feel sorry for them.

Cynics to the core. I'll never be saying it's perfection, but will humbly disagree and side with those four solely in their part of that entire mess.

They (and their stunt doubles) seem to have worked their asses off and done what they could with what they were given to work with. Relative unknowns, no way they're going to get the easy street, then only to be usurped by Fox being proclaimed as (and made into) the star of it (*cough* or have their voice replaced by an ill-fitting name grab). I respect that those four did open up about it later and didn't turn out entirely like they themselves might have wanted. (In Jeremy's case, earned respect back after he'd had that little fit after Bay and Fox did.)

I'm sure there are probably others that deserve credit for doing their own job decent. Like... the lighting guys/girls, boom operator, etc.

And the unsung hero that leaked the Blue Door script and thus put a stop to that particular absurdity.

The only TMNT thing I watch is the Nick cartoon. I don't give a sh*t about the movies, old or new. Unless they make a good movie in the future (not in this series) I won't care.

If you don't think the original movie from 1990 is a gem, you should be forced to live the rest of your life in the sewers.
