With issue 63 out today the main IDW series has officially surpassed Mirage Vol. 1 which capped out at 62 issues.

Of course this is not counting specials, mini's, etc. in which IDW TMNT already has over 100 issues overall, but just the main two ongoings. The next milestone to surpass is Vol. 1 and Volume 2 combined, then the main Archie run of 72 issues.

and they didn't even have to fill issues with a guest era

Although it is the longest running TMNT book simply titled "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", not "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures" or Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

And still, ten issues to being the longest period? Sure that's not until august but still less than a year.

I'm glad to hear it. I love this comic, it's the only one I go out and pick up every month any more, and on a personal level this comic + the first movie is the top tier of TMNT for me.

Thanks Tom, Bobby, Kevin, Ronda, and all the amazing writers and artist's who have touched the book so far. It's been fantastic and I hope this book stays around for a long long time. Cheers!

Not entirely fair but... let's get a page count, though. :) Mirage vs. IDW. The first 62 issues.

Most IDW issues are only 20-22 pages, most of Mirage had 35-40 pages for a lot of issues.

Different times, I guess.

How many of those Mirage pages were done by the same core creative team? :D

I think it did pass Archie this year in total issues published with original content, though it still has a year to go before it overtakes the ongoing sequential issue count.

In the main ongoing, issue 100 won't hit till like 2019...lol.

Remember only 12 issues come out a year for the main series. It'll still take to the end of this decade for them to hit issue 100.

Well to be fair:

Seeing how X of those 62 issues are non-canon anyway, that does bring down the pages that actually count as part of continuity.
Even if the page count of those 62 issues outweigh these 63 issues, it's only a relatively short matter of time before the page count is overtaken as well.

Back in the Spring, I counted (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showpost.php?p=1571168&postcount=18) that the IDW Turtle-verse numbered 107 unique issues, while the Archie Turtle-verse stood at 118, if you count all the mini-series, specials, source books, and Mutanimals series (film adaptations and individual short stories not included).

Since then, we've had the DC Batman crossover, Bebop & Rocksteady mini-series, and TMNT Universe, and I think the IDW-verse published issue count currently sits at 122.

122 is correct. I just checked my spreadsheet and I'm at 260 individual issues due to cover variants... I'll need another long box next year...:teek:

Those are some statistics. Too complicated for me.

Surprisingly, it's not too difficult thanks to the TMNT Entity indexes:
Archie: http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2008/06/archie-comics.html
IDW: http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2011/08/idw-publishing.html

Though when I counted the unique Archie issues this time, I only counted 115 (ongoing, mini-series, specials, Mutanimals). I wasn't sure whether "Conservation Corps" should be considered part of the TMNT-verse. Also, I didn't count the "Mutant Universe" Source-books, since they aren't narratives.
