turtlemania special #1
I picked it up at a comic sell tonight for 2 bucks. I had never seen it before. Anyone know anything about it? says it was published in 1986...if that helps any.

It's a collection of production images and stuff. It's neat, small though. You got a good deal on it I paid more for it online.

I found mine in a $1 box at a convention once. It's limited to 3000 copies, so it's quite rare. There is a silver autographed version which is limited to 100 copies, and a gold sketched version which is limited to 10 copies. I've never seen the gold version, and it's quite possibly the rarest TMNT comic book in existence. If you find one for 2 bucks, snatch it up. I'll give you 5 for it.

2 bucks, $1, to heck with you guys!! I paid like $12 for a NM copy on Ebay and considered myself lucky enough to get that deal, since I've seen copies go for some pretty ridiculous prices. I guess that's why I should be less of a hermit and start attending conventions.

I have a copy of the regular(3000) Turtlemania and 2copies of the silver(100) Turtlemania
What are these worth? I realize that some people have paid some ridiculous prices. Nice find at the convention I have a couple of perspective buyers who seem to be big TMNT collectors. I do not want to rip them off, but do not want to sell myself short. I have had these since they were published. thanks |

My decision
I have decided to put one Silver edition on ebay..
I have had a lot of interest in them and want everybody to have a chance to buy one. This will also allow the market to dictate how much it is worth. This also allows me to take pictures for everybody to see and every party is protected. I will post when I do put it on so that everybody knows. Most likely next week when I have time. Maybe I am making a mistake not taking one of the great trades or money I have been offered. |

Is this your auction?
I'm pretty sure that's not a silver or gold edition, as it's claimed to be. It doesn't even look like it was stapled together. To me it just looks like extra printer run off that got signed for someone and given away. If it was a silver edition it wouldn't have a sketch at all. If it was a gold edition, it would have a sketch from both Kevin and Peter; that one has only Kevin. I'm also pretty sure each type of edition was numbered and this doesn't appear to be. It's certainly neat and probably worth more than a standard Turtlemania, but I don't think it's worth anywhere close to what a real gold or silver edition might fetch. I think $200 is lofty for an opening bid for what you have, although you could end up pleasantly surprised. As it is, though, the item description is deceiving and should be revised.

Not a real Turtlemania Special #1
3000 print run has white paper and no signatures or numbering
100 print run has grey/silver paper, numbering 1-100 and signatures 10 print run has gold paper, numbering 1-10( I do not remember) and two original sketches The paper is not a shiny gold, but more like a golden yellow color I have personally seen the gold book. I had a chance to buy one when I was 13 and did not have the money. On this copy the signatures are in the wrong place with wrong color paper. By the way Laird signed in black ink and Eastman signed in blue ink. No that is not my auction. I have not posted my auction yet. This may be a white copy that was not bound with staples. I doubt this is the case. Bad pictures do not help. I will be selling #66/100 There are only 10 gold copies. I wish I had a gold copy so that I could have the trifecta. |

I also ran across that auction and questioned its authenticity. I've never seen a gold or silver copy, but had a hard time believing this was a gold. Thanks for clearing it up.

Awesome, dude..but holy expensive. Probably worth the price as I've never even seen it before, but way to steep for my wallet. Good luck with the sale!

This is why I put down make me an offer. 2000 would be to steep for my wallet too. 100 made 10%-20% lost, thrown away, dog ate it, burned in fire, lost in natural disaster. 80-90 books left plus a regular edition This is one of the top TMNT collectors items of all time! At least try and make an offer. The worst I can say is no. |

Alright, cool...though my offer will be nowhere near 2000..it's worth a shot!
Your statistics make me wonder how many gold copies are left... |
