This whole thing is kinda amusing to me. I lied the classic Sonic games a lot and absolutely adore Sonic Mania, so it's not like I have something personal against the most famous hedgehog in the world or Sega. In fact, Sega was a big part of my childhood and I sometimes wish that company would one day make a new console again that takes the world by storm.

...but I kinda want this movie to be as bad as it looks like. For one thing, it's not like Sonic's reputation can be even more damaged than it already is. I mean, did the Tomb Raider, Street Fighter or Super Mario Bros. movies even damage those properties' reputations? No.

Like Leo said, let this movie at least finally convince studios that video game based movies usually aren't a good idea. Dead Or Alive and the first ever Mortal Kombat movies were exceptions to the rule.

I haven't actually played the games yet, so I dunno how faithful of an adaptation it is, but the movie was fun for what it was, so I have no reason to hate on it. I'm fine with its existence. And the first ver MK movie was quite impressive for its time. Surely stood out in comparison to the Mario and Street Fighter movies.

So, I've learned that this wasn't the first film that Sega had decided to sign off on.

House of the Dead, which came out in 2003, was one of the WORST reviewed video game movies of all time.

What are the chances that Sonic might match its reception?
