Make the Mirage superheroes the comic book characters Mikey reads about.

I'm not a fan of the Superman ripoffs. Not Silver Sentry, nor Hyperion im the Marvel universe. And while between Marvel and DC there's this back and forth of blatant ripoff characters, I don't feel TMNT is a place where they should be. Or at least I don't feel they've been done well enough to keep me interested.

No, let TMNT be the focus.

personally, i'd like the Turtles to be the Superheroes, y'know.
Like either the japanese ones or the ones from the superhero dimension in 2K3. I liked the fact that for the most part, TMNT are street level heroes figuratively and literally, even though they get a few massive adventures here and there (like Daredevil). |

Any superhero that exists in the world of the TMNT must exist to advance plot potential of the TMNT.
In a universe where mutagen ooze exists, it's perfectly logical for me to believe in the possibility of meta-humans or extraterrestrial beings. However, it makes little sense for these super beings to operate in public, so long as the TMNT still feel compelled to live in hiding and work within the shadows as ninja.

They make friends with few of the superheroes, but have to stay in the shadows because the vast majority will disintegrate them upon sight.

No. Not humans with super-powers working as public heroes, anyway. Spiritual beings (Radical), mutated and clearly inhuman elementals (Muckman, etc), powered armors (Nobody, Eric Sachs), and even mostly-human mutants (Ravenwood) are okay in small doses and without too much of a public prescience. Unless we're going for a "mutant exposure" arc, like with Nick Muckman.
