Should Rise have been TTG?
Let's face the facts:
*Action cartoons have been dead this whole decade sans a few exceptions. *Rise is getting tons of hate anyway for trying out new things & looks to be a bomb *This Copy/Paste chibi smiley character design is a hit with kids *TMNT has tons of archives to be able to make clever jokes *Teen Titans Go really isn't that bad, it's cute and fun *TMNT Team-Up from the summer shorts gave me a few chuckles, a better writing team could've done much better + a higher budget Try not to post with your feelings pouring. Cartoons for the Twitter age. When no one, esp kids who are programed by life now to have very short attention spans, can't take real cartoons anymore because it requires too much brain power.
You know what comes after this age of cartoons? And maybe we should just go ahead and skip this rubbish and get right to it. Spoiler:
Also. No. Hell no. It's sad that we even have to have something to look at to say, "Well it could have been worse." |

I'm willing to bet Nick was seriously considering going with this approach for the next TMNT cartoon since they made more TMNT Team-Up shorts than anything else. But then changed their minds and went with a regular (assumingly) action show like Rise of the TMNT.
So I feel we dodged a bullet. TMNT Team-Up might continue for all we know, but as long as it's not the "main" cartoon I won't mind. Having more 2-3 minute shorts of it is fine. |

No and Rise looks fine in general.
It’s getting a lot of hate because it’s what people on the internet do to just about everything new or updated.

I think they'e gone for something along the lines of new without loosing the (trying to find my words - it's early) action look? and ending there rather than at the TTG look.
Anyway, I'd have liked TTG less. Last edited by newfan; 05-20-2018 at 09:34 AM. |

No. This show's been getting way less hate than TTG has.

Oh man, is this a confirmation that the new show won't be like Teen Titans go? 'Cause I was still holding out hope.

They've mentioned at least once how the show would be more comedic oriented. I'm sure there'll be action but it will indeed have more comedy, which is fine. I'm guessing it'll be similar to the OT in terms of balance between action/comedy.
Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but it's not going to happen, the setting and character designs don't lend themselves to the TTG style. Which is a shame, I'd rather have a full comedy show than the show we're getting, the turtles lore has plenty of stuff to poke fun at it. TMNT Team Up didn't really tap the full potential but I think it'd still be worth a shot. |

Between the show being more comedic, 11 minutes shorts and apparently even more childish than the 2012 show... it was pretty much sounding like TMNT Go. I'm glad it's not though.

Everyone says that Rise is getting hate but, at most, all of the criticisms I've seen seem to place it in the 'mixed bag' category. Frankly, I'm looking forward to RISE. I thought 2012 played it a little too safe for a lot of episodes. Rise is taking the franchise into a new direction (Something I think it needs for continued sustainability).

Rise so far seems more like DuckTales. But after Rise ends, I bet what’s next is TTG clone #8. If, that is, they’re still popular. None of them, except maybe PPG, have matched it in catching attention. Ben 10, Sonic Boom, Be Cool Scooby Doo, etc. all mostly failed.

As far as I can tell, Teen Titans Go is the only show of its "lolrandom" style that has actually been a hit with kids. Shows like the 2016 Powerpuff Girls and Mighty Magiswords have shown absolutely no interest from any kids, much less anyone (except the former, which receives its fair share of negativity from adults).
TTG is the exception, not the rule.

I'm thinking Thundercats Roar has that covered for now.

I’d be up for a full TTG-genre show...
If it was an epic deconstruction of those types of shows, and do something that PPG 2016, Ben 10 2016, Sonic Boom, Thundrtcats Roar, have failed to do: succeed. Speaking of that genre, i’d kinda like a show that turns the formula upside-down, taking a previously parodic show and playing it straight. Maybe an Action League Now relaunch simply titled Action League would be the best case study of this. Or maybe an Avenger Penguins relaunch called Hell’s Penguins that uses more of the original ideas. |

Now that rise ended, could a comedy only sure had fares better ? At least adults would've ignored it and let kids decide for themselves

Comedy is what I want. I'm bored of action and drama.
