When fans pitched for and got the Donner cut of Superman II, it was horribly edited and spawned a number of unofficial fanedt cuts made up of the best of Donner and Lester's contributions.

People don't really want Snyder's cut, they just want the material to make their own.

Amazon Germany seem to be indicating a lengtheir cut of the movie is coming, but it's in all likelyhood more of the Whedon version

A bunch of Snyder fans stood outside WB's Lot dressed as the Justice League with a big #releasethesnydercut Sign. Man these people are sad.

Justice League: An Extended Cut Is Likely On the Way

The listing puts the film’s runtime at 135 minutes. Assuming that the listing is accurate, an extended cut featuring 15 minutes of additional footage is on its way.

It’s currently unknown what scenes might make their way back into the movie. A Warner Bros. mandate that Justice League have a 2-hour runtime resulted in many scenes being cut, including cameos featuring Iris West (Kiersey Clemons) and Vulko (Willem Dafoe), as well as a flashback sequence involving Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

Avengers director Joss Whedon took over the film following the departure of Zack Snyder and began “significant” reshoots. Since the film’s release, a group of vocal fans has started lobbying Warner Bros. for the release of a Snyder cut. However, there are rumors that put Snyder’s cut at close to three hours, so it’s unlikely that this is that cut, though it’s always possible that some of his original footage may make its way back into the film.

Justice League’s run at the box-office was fairly disappointing, with the movie being met with mixed critical reviews upon release. Projections put the film’s total box office gross around $675 million, which is just slightly higher than Man of Steel‘s $668 million.

Justice League is expected for digital release on January 30.

I know couple of people who would consider "director's cut" to be the best movie possible.

Is it possible that they're using the home video release of this version to gauge interest in an extended cut later on, like FOX with Days of Future Past?

A $500 PC and an AI did a way better job erasing Henry Cavill's moustache than expensive vfx
https://io9.gizmodo.com/a-500-pc-and...1822797682/amp

Quote:
There’s a long list of things wrong with the Justice League movie, not the least of which being the hasty and poorly-executed digital removal of Henry Cavill’s mustache that he couldn’t shave during the film’s reshoots. But not to worry, some random dude on the internet with a $500 used PC and a world-changing AI just fixed at least one part of that film.

If you haven’t been checking the news, over the past few weeks it’s come to light that artificial intelligence researchers have made incredible leaps and bounds when it comes to applying deep learning technology to manipulating images and video. It’s reached the point where easily accessible programs running on an average desktop PC can swap the face of one performer with another, with staggeringly lifelike results.

In order to pull off these face-swaps you need to collect and train an AI using thousands of images of the person you want to swap in, but online scraping tools are able to easily access a near unlimited supply of celebrity headshots, like those of Henry Cavill, thanks to search engines like Google. The results aren’t instantaneous, but a few days of intense CPU processing later, some guy working on a run-of-the-mill Windows PC is now able to pull off Hollywood-caliber visual effects tricks, like removing Cavill’s mustache without making him look like a monster in the process.

The less-than-scrupulous parts of the internet have already embraced these AI tools to create fake porn videos of their favorite celebrities, which is understandably causing a lot of concern and scandal. It will soon be impossible to believe anything you see online. But at the same these tools are going to completely revolutionize the visual effects industry, allowing filmmakers without a Hollywood-sized budget to produce FX-laden movies that can easily compete with those coming out of the big studios.

If you run a visual effects studio and aren’t at least paying attention to these recent developments in deep learning and AI image manipulation tools, let alone working to adopt them into your pipeline, you’re missing out on a revolution that could soon put you out of work.
Well this is embarrassing. JL vfx team were sleeping on the job but got paid expensively?

I'll pick up the DVD when it's eventually out in the $5 bargain bin or whatever...

But WB expecting to make much bank on this home media release is laughable.

I'll probably grab the blu-ray once it's discounted a bit and I have the cash. It wasn't a great movie, but I had fun with it. It probably would have been ten times better if Whedon just did the whole thing, and I say that as a guy who's not Whedons biggest fan.

I don't think they're expecting to make bank on this, though. It's probably more along the lines of "well, this will put us over the top and get us into the black, at least". They know they f***ed up with the entire endeavor at this point, which is why they're scrambling to figure out where to go from here.

So many questionable acts, like why deleted this gem? Oh because it's too long like Batman v Superman had to cut down too?

well, I liked the opening few minutes.

They should have been doing more stuff like the superman iphone interview which was incredibly cute. and less shots of a weird crowd reaching up to superman like a worshiping army.

it's amazing how the other movies got things so wrong.

you know..

20 minutes in and i'm not really hating it so far.

The Barry and his dad plot line is pretty obviously borrowed from the TV show.
And I don't buy that kid as a smart as aces barry allen.

wonder woman so far feels like what they should have been doing with these heroes all along. showing them actually doing heoric things and saving people.

Batman somehow knowing that there is an evil coming, and we don't know how or why yet is pretty stupid.

him and aquaman talking about his identity out in the open with all those people around who may or may not understand english is also pretty stupid.

willtry and watch the rest of it tomorrow.

update-----------

OK...thoughts.

It was....watchable. TEN TIMES more watchable than that mess called man of steel and batman versus superman.

Like Wonder Woman, I feel like they are finally zeroing in on what these movies need to be.

They did a good enough job setting up each hero. 50 years of back story and animation helped speed ALOT of that along, as well as TV show stuff.

Cyborg and Flash where the weakest in the lineup. Cyborg was OK, but he wasn't all that interesting character wise. he just brooded alot. Flash just fan boyed alot. and I DO NOT buy this kid as being a super genius. he comes off as a dope smoking idiot who sounds alot like Chris from Family Guy.

Aquaman was the new standout. he had the best costume, and was just fun to watch on screen. Wonder Woman was great as always, even though again she didn't have too much acting to do, along with BatFleck who just kind of grunted through the thing.

plot was Standard justice league stuff. Alien invasion tries to take over the world. nothing new or great there. but, apart from a few things that magically appeared, plot and detail and knowledge wise, it flowed together rather nicely, I thought.

I'd give it a 3 out of 5. Considering all it's troubles. and a WB that just does not know what it's doing with these characters.

I would put it second behind wonder woman.

No, it's Geoff "The Hackman" Johns borrowing from his sh**ty Flashpoint comic again. Barry's dad being in prison and his mom being dead didn't exist until Geoff wrote Flashpoint. Had to make Barry edgy.

I don't see how anyone could like this paint-by-numbers of a movie over Batman V Superman or Man of Steel.

Different strokes, I guess.
