Yeah, unfortunately they're stuck. If they took the role away entirely and gave it to someone else - especially a white person - there'd be Hell to pay online.

It's very hard to get excited at all about movies anymore considering what the people making them prioritize.

Right and of course she should have been. That's the character, period. But now there is no course correction without social repercussions that will overshadow the course correction itself. I wouldn't even do that if I was Zaslov (recasting her with a white chick, at THIS point). So and so as Batgirl was built into a sh** Batgirl movie. Fine. The parachute out of the ire is to put her in a Batgirl movie that isn't sh**. Or better yet, first establish her in a Batfleck movie then worry about that, which is what they should have done the first time around.

I don't mind if some characters are changed races but we have black Catwoman in the Batman movies and now Black Batgirl? Black Commissioner Gordon? And they wanted a black Superman movie? And the Green Lantern series was going to be about Jon Stewart the black Green Lantern? And we have Black Adam played by Dwayne Johnson? That's a whole lot of black. We dodged a bullet with Black Canary not being black, but that would have been too on the nose.

I knew she looked a little caramel colored, that's what I meant. A lot of mixed raced people could pass for either depending what features they inherit from their parents.

I thibk the cancellation of the film was a very strange choice. I mean, even if it was a total disaster (which it almost definitely wasn’t) people spent years pouring themselves into it. I think it deserves to at least get out.

It's not clear if it's lost lost. It wasn't still on one particular server when the directors apparently (possibly illegally?) went to see if it was still there to retrieve it. Probably WB moved it somewhere more archival and secure to prevent exactly that from happening, which it would've had it still been there.
