Favorite Star Wars Film Villain
Who are some of your favorite "big bads" who have appeared on the big screen in the Star Wars universe?

Is this films only? I guess only Vader as he was really the only villain that had any semblance of character
But if we are talking about expanded universe it would probably be Maul.

Darth Vader. What would Star Wars be without him?

Yeah, It's Vader. Palpatine is a close second but if he didn't have such a signifigant role in the prequel, he'd be little more than a final boss in Jedi.
As for the other villains... Tarkin has a great actor but left little impact. Jabba is mostly just interesting to look at. Maul is decent in Clone Wars but isn't interesting in Phantom Menace at all. Dooku is similar to Maul in that he only good outside the movies, great actor though. Grievous also looks really cool but has very little character. The Trade Federation sucks. Jango is little more than a henchman. Snoke is a lamer Palpatine and finding out he's just an Avatar clone for the real Palpatine meant he wasn't even a character in his own right. Kylo Ren could have been a good character but he's so much wasted potential. Hux is forgettable as all hell (as are most Disney created characters). Phasma is also forgettable and can pretty much just be called "shiny trooper". DJ is such a pointless character. Pryde is just a weird introduction. Vos works fine in context of Solo but still not very interesting. Then there's Boba Fett... Talk about overrated. All he ever did was deliver popsicle Han to Jabba and fall into the maw of a monster, I have no idea why he became so popular. I get that the EU does way more with him but I don't get why they bothered to write so many stories about a glorified background character. |

I don't think it's at all out-of-bounds to say that if you go back to the very beginning of the franchise, if not for Darth Vader, I don't think anyone would have given a sh*t about Star Wars, like, at all. Maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but I think it's fair to at least assume. I don't think you can over-state his importance to the franchise's popularity, put it that way.

Jango Fett is a lot cooler and better than Boba Fett.
Boba doesn’t even have that much screentime and looks unappealingly outdated. |

Wouldn't Thrawn be disqualified on the basis that he isn't in any of the movies?

But wasn't he in Clone Wars or something? Or was it Rebels or another series? I forget, but I swear I remember hearing he was in one of them.

Well, there we go! So he has been in the films at least inso far as the series go. I knew I'd seen news of that somewhere. Next to Jabba and Vader, he is my favorite SW baddie. He was just so darn smart, cunning, and just plain competent. Like he had contingencies for everything!
