Hopefully it truly helps those who are vulnerable and aren’t capable of helping themselves when it comes to harassment. But yeah the system is going to have some issues with flagging the wrong things. Nothing is flawless right?
You know, I’ve deleted comments before on my IG. Not bullying but spam. It’s easy to flag and delete. Takes a few seconds. I would do the same thing if I thought someone was trolling me or attempting to bully. But I suppose not everyone is capable of being their own bully filter. So they need a corporation to step in and do it for them. Perhaps IG bullying is more complex than what I know about. At least this will also help celebrities avoid criticism when trying to sell products on IG. eye roll |

I think a decent solution would be to introduce a word filter for users so that if users want, every message containing a certain word (or sequence of words) will be hidden.
I can't see an ignore list in Instagram working like it does in these forums due to the sheer scale of it.

How about they have the option to not be on Instagram and go outside? Build a tree-house or something?
Oh, they already have that option.

I'm seeing a ton of friends reduce their FB activity by about half, posting instead to Instagram. A large percentage of those... reposting stuff from Snapchat INTO Instagram, which is strange.

I just use IG for posting comics, action figures and collection stuff. I follow other collectors and comic publishers/creators. I do not follow people’s personal pages with photos of their family reunions and food photos. I also don’t post anything that’s not collection/pop culture related.
I’ve never had a FB or any other social media accounts. I only started using IG because photo bucket made it so I could not post photos on the forum anymore. And IG has a broader more active collector fan base too. Cubed brings up a good point. I think more older people do use IG perhaps. Maybe that’s why I haven’t seen much bullying. Adult bullying is more difficult to identify? Or maybe the filter is already working. |

I chose Twitter over Instagram for following celebs, not sure if they use Instagram more actually. A lot of people generally have shifted to Instagram for personal stuff.
Anyway, can't you just block people on there? One of my sisters always said she would never have FB because there's trouble on there and that there's none of that on Instagram......yet I've seen abuse on there between fans so not sure what she means there??? and in 9/10 years I have not had trouble on FB, you don't add people you don't like. According to one of the articles IG will “review accounts that have a large number of comments filtered out. If those accounts violate Instagram’s community guidelines, it will take action, which could include banning them. The new filter will also hide comments attacking a person’s appearance or character, and alert Instagram to repeat offenders. It is the second step in an initiative announced last year to curb offensive comments and rid Instagram of its most malicious members.“ The filter will be the default and can be switched off. |

Yeah it depends what you use it for, if it's only personal then private, to follow fandoms etc you kinda need it open, on twitter they can't see your comments if you are private.

1. Some chick turned around, putting her booty up to the camera. 2. Official Sylvester Stallone giving a report from the Creed 2 set. 3. A board member from here smiling and putting boobs toward the camera. 4. A dude taking a picture of ice cream. 5. A chick taking a picture of her with two of her sisters dressed for a club. 6. A chick posting a motivational quote. 7. A chick posting a picture of her traveling to "The Tree of Life." 8. A chick posting her audition reel. 9. A dude posting his custom meme with his own quote. 10. Chick posting a bathroom selfie. Seems about right.

The internet made cats very popular, as well as youtube. Now kittens/cats are more popular than dogs.
