R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen.

Easily the most important rock guitarist after Jimi Hendrix.

Eddie, THANK YOU!

This explains why 'Jump' was playing on two different radio stations on my commute back from work thought neither said Eddie died. Eddie is definitely underrated as a guitarist. I know I am in a minority, but to this day I wanted to hear Eddie sing 'Beat It' instead of Jackson since he did such amazing work on the song and is just a fun fact related to it.

From what I read his death could have been preventable, but his refusal to stop smoking and doing drugs after a previous diagnosis.

He will be remembered as one of the greatest artists who has ever graced hard rock.

Rest in peace, Eddie Van Halen. You will be missed.

Ed Solomon wanted to get Eddie to do something in Bill and Ted face the music but they couldn't get him and they weren't told why. him having cancer must haveb been it.

Shame Wyld Stallions could never get Eddie Van Halen in the band.

Terrible news. Huge, huge Van Halen fan. I always held out this crazy hope for one more album, somehow. Or that he'd pop up on tour with Satriani for a G3.

Amazing musician with a wide breadth of talent and absolutely signature sound.

Eddie Van Halen was one of a kind in his genre(s). His work has been enjoyed by many generations and will continue to be enjoyed by many generations to come. Rock on in heaven Eddie.

Speaking of which, here's a picture taken in 1978 when Van Halen were working on their second album, it shows his gear in great detail.

It's gear which if it had been anybody other than Eddie, would have been completely useless.

https://www.vhnd.com/wp-content/uplo...seum_Art_1.jpg
And here's all that gear 40-odd years later, with the exception of the guitar, since the original black and white one would be refinished to become his famous red striped "Frankenstein"
