Justifiably. Though Brave and the Bold is definitely a solid second place.

I fail to see the point. It's not HD.

I still can't believe I've sat through all the 94 Spider-Man, 92 X-Men, but haven't sat through the entire series of this. The hells wrong with me?

It wasn't produced in HD; it wouldn't look good in HD; Bruce Timm would not enjoy a HD release.

There is this though, which was designed to be shown in a high-definition format

Gah. I really wish the both of those held up like TAS does. I had so many fond memories of them from watching as a kid.

a blu-ray release would be a bust.
i've long since owned all 4 seasons on DVD, and they look just fine on my tv.
blu-ray would just cost more money for zero improvement in picture quality.
some of the folks that were foolish enough to double dip for the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited on blu-ray were sadly disappointed.

And then there's something about to explode, so the show cuts to an animated explosion from season one, despite it clearly taking place in a different location than where the heroes are.

Did any of you guys fall in love with Shirley Walker's music? La-La Land Records is having a flash sale for the entire series' score.

Quote:
September 5 marks the 25th anniversary of the television premiere of B:TAS. We're celebrating with a Bat-tastic flash sale! Right now, get B:TAS VOL 1 & 4 (2-CD SETS) for only $20 each and VOL 2 & 3 (4-CD SETS) for only $40 each! Sale expires at 11:59am (PST) on 9/6.
http://www.lalalandrecords.com/Site/SpecialOffers.html

I HIGHLY recommend you guys check out at least volume 1. The sound is great and the selection of episodes on the release gives you some of the show's best compositions. No one, and I mean no one, in television or even Hollywood is writing this sort of music anymore (at least regularly) which is a real shame.

Uh, happy anniversary B:TAS! (I guess??)

I watched this show a lot as a kid. Easily one of my favorite versions of Batman.
And you just can't beat that intro:

A real classic!

My favorite show ever. It had two lives for me, first as a little kid watching in the mornings and afternoons after school. Then next as a teenager finishing up high school when the show first came on DVD, allowing me to appreciate it in a new way. And inspiring me to become an animator as well.

Happy 25th Batman the Animated Series.

JL and JLU were produced in HD so Blu-ray releases made sense and they look fine overall. Although some shots here and there are, for whatever reason, appallingly bad (aliasing).

People who want a remaster of B:TAS don't understand how hard it is to "restore" a show like that while retaining its visual style and appeal. Do you remove any of the grain? How much? Should you fix that animation error digitally? Do the colors need to be altered to fit the new resolution well? It requires a tremendous amount of prudence and oversight in order to "get it right"; otherwise you end up with something like this:

Spoiler:

Mask of the Phantasm got a fine-looking Blu-ray release, but that was sourced from 35mm elements.

I'd settle for a reissue of the "Complete Series" boxset from 2008. The packaging for my copy is starting to come apart and my bonus disc was destroyed.

Regarding a Blu-Ray release, isn't one of the advantages of Blu-Ray more storage? So, while it doesn't have to be remastered in HD, can't they just put more episodes on fewer discs?
