R.I.P. Norm Breyfogle (Comic Artist)
Known for kicking off post-crisis in Detective Comics with writer Alan Grant, Norm Breyfogle brought a unique look to Batman from 1987 to the mid 90s. While Norm was never one of my under a handful all-time favorite artist I appreciated his art style. Breyfogle suffered a stroke in 2014 which he never fully recovered from.

Ah, sh*t. That's awful.
I always preferred Jim Aparo over on the main Batman book, but Breyfogle's covers used to really make Detective Comics jump off the rack. Some of the stories in 'Tec, his art was absolutely perfect for. Not my all-time favorite either, but very striking, very dynamic, very memorable.

Sad. My defining childhood introduction to Batman was two people: Aparo, and Norm.

I have quite a few of his Detective comics. Including the one with Etrigan, powerful childhood memory that one. RIP good sir.
Also co-created Prime, but we won't go there. |

I was reminded of this easter egg of Norm Breyfogle being a finalist in a contest Bob Rozakis held to redesign Dick Grayson's Robin Contest. It was in the pages of Batman Family, a title I love from the late 70s'.Ultimately, no winner of the contest for the redesign. This is my favorite cover he did and one that has entered pop culture deservingly so.
