Loony Toons are'nt action shows, there socially depraved comedies represented by a hoarde of innocent looking, yet mischevous groups of characters that have remained memorable through thier apperances and actions in those shorts, to turn them into THESE...ABORTIONS just reeks of the kind of s*it that we're now getting due to the fact noone can create anything original anymore, so they choose to rape these icons into something that every fan of The Guyver can be proud of, and it F*CKING disgusts me. What next? Joss Whedon's "Animanaics?".... |

I lost my love for Looney Tunes some time ago around the height of the suburban Warner Brothers Store in the mid 90s. I couldn't turn around without seeing soccer moms wearing oversized pouting Tweety shirts with stupid sayings, business execs sporting Daffy ties or middle schooler blingin' Tazmanian devil earrings. And that's to say nothing of Space Jam. *shiver*
This "extreme" image retooling for this new generation o' kid strikes me as pretty inevitable.

Personally, I look forward to Duck Dodgers every friday night. The show is hilarious.
Duck Dodgers is the "actionyist" I want a Looney Tunes show to get. Whenever an aged property tries to get "hip" we end up with crap like Yo, Yogi! or Rocken Out with Judy Jetson. Granted, those were both Hanna Barbara properties (before Warner bought them), but the WB has made plenty of their own bad Looney Tunes shows, and they don't even have to be "hip". Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries was obnoxious, and Baby Looney Tunes...well, I don't think I'm the target demographic for that show. We can't forget Space Jam or Back in Action, either. Personally, I don't want the Looney Tunes to get "hip". What makes them so funny is that they've always been a satire of what's "hip". From parodies of the Frank Sinatra craze back in the 40's, to ripping into Barney on Animainiacs. C'mon Looney Tunes, you're better than this. |

I saw this on TV last night. I can't believe what WB is doing to its classic characters. Those designs look horrible. If they created a new show using the classic look, then they'd not only get kids to watch, but other age groups who loved the older cartoons.

1. Space Ghost was recent brought back as a serious character, despite how patently ludircrous that is (the comics great though) 2. Ghostbusters actually WAS pretty dark in the original seasons of the cartoon as well as humerous 3. Darker versions of video Game characters? Sonic SATAM anyone? |
