Supposedly November is when studios put out movies they aren't quite sure about. So them pushing it back to fill a traditional summer blockbuster release date could signify either that they're confident in its merits as a film, or they're simply hoping it'll be a financial (if not critical) success due to good will generated by the first film, as a kind of last hoorah windfall, since their whole cinematic universe is on the verge of collapse anyways.

Apparently there's some gossip going on that the movie will undergo reshoots to incorporate elements of the aborted Flashpoint script, effectively making WW 1984 the film that reboots the DCEU.

Smells like B.S.. There was never even any credible citations that "Flashpoint" -- when it was still "Flashpoint" -- was going to even be a semi-DCEU reboot, only fanboy wishes. Plus, what if Aquaman ends up doing gangbusters?

I just hope however way they decide to put Steve Trevor back in the story that it is not too contrived. I think they are just regretting blowing him up in the first place.

Flashpoint as an idea has been dead for, what, 2 years now? No, that can't be right... Justice League was November 2017. $hit, feels way longer than that.

Hmm... so Diana is "taking the fight to the White House"? Huh.
https://www.comicbookmovie.com/wonde...WKd1aPWJ32qW10 Now, call me paranoid, but if I had to speculate it's going to be Zeus or somebody in disguise as a politician in the White House (maybe even the president) up to no good (it's 1984, so probably an oh-so-relevant-to-now Russian collusion) and an underlying "powerful statement" about Trump. Cheetah will come to her senses and will unite with WW against the Evil in the White House as two strong independent women, I'm certain.

I hope writers won't try to make their "progressive" wet fantasies true in very obnoxious fashion.

It's a shame; Wonder Woman was very good - partly because they COULD have gone super-preachy and ultra-SJW with it, but showed an unbelievable amount of restraint and simply focused on making the best movie they could.
Nothing ruins things like success, unfortunately. Because as I'd feared, since the first movie made money AND was a hit with critics and fans alike, now they have to "protect" their "brand", which means adhering to a formula and a checklist. And thus, while I really had high hopes for a sequel, every single thing I've seen so far on this has been dreadful. I mean, have you SEEN the poster? What... what the hell IS that? Did someone just open Photoshop, hand someone else a photo of Gal Gadot, along with a note that said "Lots and LOTS of COLORS!", and then just let them continue unabated without any further direction? I mean Jesus. It'll probably do alright based on the lingering goodwill from the first one, but... yeah, expectations firmly in the middle leaning south, at least for now. ---------------------------- Found out that some "alleged" spoilers from test screenings have been online for a while now. Holy sh*t, this thing sounds like a f*cking disaster. Maxwell Lord, "Magical Wish Genie"? Holy sh*t. Unreal. It's Wish Magic. "Allegedly".

I really hope the movie is good and doesn't get too political/SJW.

Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if WW2 ends up taking a dive. WW1 could have been very, very bad but somehow made it out unscathed except for the Ares CGI boss fight.

I couldn't get into the first film. I really wanted to like it. There are elements of it I appreciate.
I think WB is a great studio though. No way I can fault the people who gave me Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Joker, Man of Steel, and BvS (Sue me) in the last decade. |
