Yeah, it sounds too interesting a plot point for this movie. Would be happily surprised if it turned out that way though.

I just looked into it and you're right. The junior novelization leak was FAKE.

However:

The cast list naming Beauvais as "Doris Toomes" seems to be credible. And she could easily play Zendaya's mother. We'll see.

Zendaya's role made clear

Michelle's friends call her ''MJ'', so she's Mary Jane, but not really. Just like how Ned Leeds has Ned's name but is more a Ganke expy

She's also not really that close to Peter in the movie, and doesn't gravitate to him through the film either. Her last scene is'nt even a ''face it tiger'' moment with an exotic makeover or anything

Just a lot of contempt for the writers. I thought Marvel had gotten over its "change characters for the hell of it" phase in Iron Man 3.

Eventually, the FAKE reviews will die and it'll be, like several other Marvel films, around the 80s range.

All seriousness, I see this film landing somewhere in the mid 80s by the time reviews are done at the most. 85% seems fair.
