Is this what counts as news now? Surely there must be something more important or interesting going on in the world right now.

My grandparents were perfectly happy sleeping in separate rooms in their later years, but leaving the house entirely is quite curious.
Honestly, sometimes I think if I ever got married, I'd still prefer to sleep in a small bed or couch by myself.

I would actually guess that more people routinely conk out separately from their S.O. than actually routinely sleep in the same bed together to be honest. Especially as you get to middle-age and up. |

This sounds like one of those humorous "on the lighter side of the world" fluff pieces that some news programs do in the second half of the show to get everybody to relax after covering all the "WE'RE DOOMED!!!" stuff covered in the beginning.

Or he just doesn't want to verbally confess that she snores like a moose and no room inside is sound proof enough. lol
Really though, he kind of reminds me of those homeless people who despite people trying to help them they still go back to the streets... Like some weird quirk in their mental state, they prefer it out there. But in this case, with an actual home he can go into. Bet if he lived in one of us states that are quite COLD right now he'd change his mind until spring... |

Never seen the point of sleeping in separate beds or rooms. I absolutely love having someone to cuddle up to at night, having that safe feeling of knowing my SO is right beside me as both the first and last thing I see when I wake up or fall asleep. And since he's diabetic, it's almost a requirement for us to share a room, since his blood sugar can sometimes tank in the middle of the night after a lot of activity during the day, and being in different rooms would make that much more dangerous if I'm not there to catch it. So, I don't mind if he snores or mumbles in his sleep from time to time, or the occasional bouts of sleep apnea. It's just part of that whole "for better or worse" part of married life!

My in-laws sleep in separate rooms, and have for many years. They hate each other, like most married people.
The big thing is, she goes to bed earlier and he stays up all night drinking piss beer and watching MSNBC. They're almost never even in the same room during the daylight, anymore. She can't stand that political sh*t but it's all he watches anymore, and it makes him very violent the more drunk he gets. Picture your stereotypical supposed "Trumper", all loud and drunk and angry and ignorant, and that's this guy, except he's a staunch Democrat... because he wants free sh*t from the government. Otherwise, he's ranting and raving about f*****s and n*****s in-between screaming how every single Republican should be shot in the face. "Fun" guy, so you can imagine why his wife can't even stand to be around him regardless of what time of day it is. In any case, he's been pretty much parked on the living room sofa for the last decade or so, occasionally getting up to piss, mow the lawn, or scream at someone. I will say even though most don't seem THAT bad I can attest in my experience it happens way more than people think. After the first couple of years, MOST married people are 100% in it because finding a replacement partner is more trouble than it's worth and living alone is too expensive. That "love" sh*t is completely out of the equation by Year 5 at the latest, everything else is just a long-simmering stew of resentment and bitterness. If the other room across the hall had heat or air conditioning I'd definitely be over there full-time. But to save on gas and electric they don't have anything connected to that room, so it's just a storage room that gets to 105 in the Summer and below-freezing in Winter. Otherwise, oh yeah, I'd be there pretty much always. I wish! That'd be awesome.

Sometimes, my dad would fall asleep in his easy chair during a movie and my stepmom would go to sleep in their bedroom when I used to stay over at their house, especially during the holidays.
However, my dad would also wake up, turn off the living room & kitchen lights, and go join my stepmom in their bedroom. And, sometimes my stepmom would sleep in the living room. That's because my dad did occasionally snore loudly. As for the backyard camper in the Insider story, and aside from his reasoning ..who knows?
